White is the new black

White cars are becoming more of a choice rather than what's leftover on the lot. It is amazing how well white hides the dirt. We went skiing in W Virginia (I know, with kids) and we had 2 cars. Mine was very dark blue and my friends' was white. My car was trashed with salt. You could barely notice any soiling of the white car. If is is accessorized well, white can look killer!

Thanks a lot. The compass was the "splurge" looking kind of cool feature - I felt the dash was not complete without it. The Porsche entry drive is for big one for me. I never have my keys in my pocket, leave them in carry bag. So digging for them is a pain in the butt. So it is nice to just keep them in my bag and get into the beast and drive away. I am pumped!

It is super cool - especially at night.

Ha ha, very very early in the game when folks showed us their build, I suggested the compass for the looks (since I felt it looked too plain without it). Many crucified me for the comment/suggestion. One said don't ask w00t for advice unless you wanna get bankrupt...glad I am not the only one losing $$$$...needless to say I have it on my order.

You won't regret the compass. Maybe it's just me, but it seems to have a calming effect to see the dial slowly spin as you are turning.

Gamma nice to get your thoughts on the compass. It was a tall order for me spec'ing a custom order a couple of months back when no one had any clue about the Pana roof, the Burm, the compass leave alone the performance upgrades.

White is a very good choice. The one concern on the white car is that the clear-bra will yellow with time and it shows on a white car. If you are not going to use a paint protection film and like to change cars every 3 to 4 yrs then it really does not matter but something to keep in mind.

Congrats on the white color. The compass on the dash in my car gets asked questions every time someone comes inside, sorta wished it was a clock instead.

First time I have bought a car (at such little discount) configured the exact way I want it. Usually I have bought off the lot or second hand. I am excited to see how the ownership experience differs from the others.

Thanks ... will post pictures and share stories the moment I grab it.

Woot, you did convince me to go for the compass and PTV and I am really happy that I went with them. I had to ditch the Burm though.. but I am convinced now that the Bose + comfort lighting + porsche crescent + PTV + compass that I went for instead will better suit my needs. I reckon I would have ended up with a completely different cayenne if it wasn't for this forum. Can't wait for March! Now to find a cure for my impatience...

I ordered meteor gray. I had it on a 997TT and it worked out well. My wife thinks it matches the house. Seriously, for a daily driver it always looks clean! Only after you wash it and the mirror finish returns do you realize how dirty it was. Its a neutral color and not for everyone.
I have to admit this post is making me second guess my build color (see https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...rid-build.html for my build). My Cayenne will be for everyday, and I have not been historically good at washing black cars every weekend.

I like the Meteor Grey too, and have until next Friday to change to that if I want to. It seems like black is simply stunning when clean, but Meteor Grey is better for hiding dirt and blemishes. Does that sum it up?

So confused on what to do.... they are both nice.

The black is stunning but it WILL look dirty after 1-2 days. Thats a FACT. Even a little dust thats settles from a garage shows up readily, thats my experience.

I guess you really like black cars

How do you keep them clean?

I invested in some Griots products, including orbital but can't spend TOO much time cleaning cars. I take my Ferrari out every Sunday morning weather permitting from march to now for a coffee and cars type of meet with a bunch of guys. We also so some driving events which take a good part of some weekend days. The family doesn't take too kindly when I overdo it and spending additional time keeping a bunch of cars clean goes over like a fart in church.......

Brake dust drives me nuts ... The 430 gets wiped before every outing but can't do that with a daily driver.... besides looking great, a meteor gray CTT with PCCB's will be easy to maintain looking sharp

Especially considering you live somewhere it snows.. OMG. I just couldn't do it. I love riding my bike too much to spend so much detailing black. My M5 drove me nuts.
