Clear Bra Advice
Newbie to the board.
Newbie to world of porsche.
In fact, this is the first new car I will have purchased!
Will take delivery of black 2011 Cayenne V6 in the near future. From pouring through the various threads, it seems that the clear bra for the entire hood is a good idea. However, I don't know what product to pursue or where to have the work done. The dealer has quoted me ~$800 for the entire front hood. This seems a bit steep to me...
Any advice would be very much appreciated. BTW I live in the NYC area (Northern New Jersey to be exact).

A front clear bra is definitely a good idea to prevent road rash, especially on a black Porsche. The clear bra truly protects the front end from stone dings. The $800 price for a full front bumper and full hood is a good deal. Advantage of having it done by your Porsche dealer is that they will guarantee the quality of the install. If there are any problems, the dealer will be responsible. Some dealers will guarantee the install for the life of the vehicle. Most use either the 3M or Ventureshield plastic clear bra, both 3M products. A good install is almost invisible.

Stick with 3M, by the far the best out there. It has a clear coat on it so if you get any bugs or minor swirl marks on it you can use a little rubbing alcohol and it will take it right out. Autobahnd actually went out of business a few years ago. They had the thinnest product on the market which was good for hiding the lines across the hood, but if you wiped a bug off it it would scratch the s**t out of the bra. We install 3M paint protection out of our shop in central NJ, PM me for a quote.

$800 is a bargain for full hood and bumper , Still side fenders needed and mirrors. Regular cost would be like $1,500 to $2,000 . I have it all on mine and its imposible to notice the clear bra but it all depends who does it. Mine was done by Modern Image in CA.
Good luck
