Looking at 04 Turbo

Hi folks,

Looking at trading my wife's 02 MBZ S500 for a local 04 Turbo.
It has 78K, Clean Carfax, 22" Techarts w/new Pirellis. 26.9K
Owner has some airbox mod as well, maybe K&N? Warranty available.
Thoughts? Recommendations?

Thanks,
Paul

Great rides, check to see if the following items have been addressed; plastic coolant pipes switched to alum, driveshaft been changed yet and coil packs have been changed. Other than that they run strong, smooth and very comfortable. I bought my 04 CTT with 24K miles, has 92K now, repaired all the items I mentioned above but I do drive it like I stole it .

Looks good.

Most of the "issues" these have are pretty easy to cure.

I have just purchased my 04 CTT about a month ago... Love it! I have found some small issues with mine; however, due to this forum I have been anble to address and or learn what I need to know to fix them. The coolent lines are kind of a big deal and working that out to see what needs done. Fantastic car! smooth fast and fun..

Looks very nice, I would just check those items mentioned above, they are the costlier repairs. Very happy with my 04 CTT.

On top of the above:
See if the air suspension compressor has been rebuilt or replaced.
Check for tranny leak at torgue converter seal.
78K, it is ready for the 80K service ($1400 or more at dealer).
Take a good look at the pads and rotors, also last brake fluid flush.

Just some negotiating points.

Price looks good. The car really is a blast to drive.

Great point guys, I knew I would get some excellent feedback from this forum! Beats the heck out of comments on KBB.
From what I can tell on the Carfax, none of the items have been touched, this worries me. She's not keen on the miles either, but I don't think they are excessive. My wife would kill me if we needed 2G's or so right off the bat. I think I might take a test drive first and possibly a PPI if I can find a good indy near Hayward. Think I'm on track.

OK, found another candidate within 100 mi radius. Approximate same miles with some records. Probably a little more viable dealer, I've seen them advertise before and viewed some nice cars in the past. Anyone have any experience with them?
