A Fabspeed bypass pipes rattle cure?
I had my neighbor torch off the hangers on my factory cats, slide the end in the hanger and welded to the bypass pipes, easy fix, I only heard a rattle on my CTT when I used the tip to down shift? problem solved.
I have had my fabspeed pipes on my 2010 GTS for about 6weeks now and the cold start rattle issue is driving me nuts. I think I am going to try some universal exhaust hangers this weekend to see if I can cure it.
Am I the only one trying to understand how there is a correlation between a fuel pump and the exhaust system???
Is it possible that mayber the dealer who did the fix also adjusted the exhaust slightly so it stopped hitting the transmission cross member. What if the dealer noticed this and told the mechanics to fix it so there was no possibility that the customer might think that the rattling was caused by the dealer fixing the car? The bypass pipes rattle because they don't fit right or the flex downpipe is causing it to angle down slightly. AND I'm a little surprised we have someone from fabspeed in this thread suggesting that the fuel pump may be a 'fix' for this issue. Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how they are related at all?? I'm thinking for $600, Fabspeed should start puttting some hangers on their bypass pipes instead of suggesting that the fuel pump is causing their product to rattle.

thanks,
Contacted Alex yesterday, he told me to send back my pipes to have them weld on some hangers, but I asked if he could just send me the hangers I will have them welded on at a local shop to avoid the aggravation of taking them off and then reinstalling. He gladly agreed and said they are on the way!! Great customer service, thanks a lot Alex/Fabspeed. I will report back once I have them welded on.

All in good fun....had to do it
Hey Guys, sorry for the delayed response. And we are using Hangers on all of our catbypass pipes in the last 6 months. If you have the 1st generation Bypass pipes from us, PM me or give me a call directly at 215-646-4945 and I will give you an RA number to send them back and have them updated with hangers. I Know its a problem on some of the cars so contact me to have them sent back and updated with hangers to resolve the sound issue. Let me know if you have any questions.
thanks,
thanks,
I must say, Fabspeed has AMAZING customer service. I purchased their 1st set of Bypass pipes and cat-back exhaust back in 04.....
In 2008, the pipe going into my right side muffler cracked off ( after 100k+ new england miles and 2 CTT's) I called Joe and he told me to bring it by.....after looking at if for about 3 mins, they decided to just replace the entire cat-back exhaust for free!!!

Now i just need to stop back and get some hangers for my bypass pipes
Sorry for not following-up.
WRT the questions about correlation between pump and rattling, I can only attribute it to a different pump spec that coincidentally affected how much fuel/rpm is used for cold-starts. When I initially had the pipes on, I took it to a shop and a dealer to check if I messed up the install. Both reported the pipes fit well and the noise is not from it hitting any members/parts on the car. So I think it's the metallica sound of exhaust pulses resonating at a certain frequency. Turbo owners may have different experiences since their exhaust pulses get filtered by the turbines where normally-apirated cars get a straight shot to the pipes.
If the hangers does actually eliminate any other noise, I'm very interested. That's really great service, Alex!!!
Anyhoo, the pipes are still loudish (isn't that the point of these things???) but the subsided ratatatatat is good enough for me.
Cheers,
-H

Fabspeed has been very slow in shipping out the replacement hangers. Alex called me yesterday to tell me mine had finally shipped. I am hoping to get them on this weekend and get rid of the rattle - My wife is ready to kill me over the noise
