oil level at 1/2..

so after almost 2k miles, the oil level is at 1/2.. wanting to top it off..
how much oil do i need to use?

newbie in this thing.. i'm so used to having oil changes at 3k miles for jap cars.. can't afford that for the cayenne as it's way expensive..

also, what type of oil do i use? i misplaced the manual.. can't find it

do i just open the oil cap and pour it in?

thanks in advance..

i'm not sure if they used:

Mobil 1 0W-40 or 5W-40..

are these the same? can they be mixed (mixed = if they used 0W-40 and top with 5W-40/or vice-versa - is this ok? or would it cause problems?)

Mark3D,

Dont mix it. 0W-40 is what you need.

I bought it at O'Reilly Auto Parts abt $50 for the case of 6 qts. (i have used 4 qts in the last 4 months)

Both a 5W-40 and 0W-40 will provide the same level of protection at high temperatures, especially if you are using a product like Mobil 1. As far as the 0W versus the 5W, this should not make a difference for you other than at start-up. The 0W would provide you a faster start-up at low temperature but you are unlikely to see the differences in your climate. Either grade is fine for you and unless you are having any issues, we recommend you stay with Mobil 1 0W-40 as it is specifically designed for your type of vehicle

as much as i want to top it off this weekend.. might as well call the indie shop tomorrow if they have "records" of what they used.. other than that, i may just go with an oil-flush :-( just to be sure..

you can open the cap and pour it but if its at 1/2 I dont think you need to worry about for another 2 K miles or so....no?
