Major Oil Problem on 06' Cayenne TT please help..

Hey Guys,

I am a proud new member to this forum I own a 06' Cayenne TT. Had a problem recently dont know what it can be from. My car has 30K miles on it and I had the oil changed about 3k miles ago. A couple days ago I noticed light knocking from the motor. I pulled out the dipstick yesterday and noticed that it was completely dry! Can the A***** that changed my oil possibly have not put enough oil in it? Or do these cars burn that much or any oil at all? I looked under the car and there is no leaks of any kind? What can this possilby be from? After adding about 4 quarts the dipstick came to the lowest point of oil and the engine noise went away. please help. thanks.

To quote my service namanger (who was quoting PCNA): "The limit for oil consumption per Porsche is 1.0 liters per 1000KM which is 1 quart per 625 miles."

Thirsty thing...

They burn alot of oil. Fill it up and see if the noise goes away. Also I am surprised that the "check oil" light did not go on. Mine goes on the second oil level hits the low line.

+1 on the where-the-hell-was-the-oil-light. I can live with it drinking oil; but that seems dangerous to run it dry, and it didn't tell you a thing.

The thing is that the oil light was on ever since the oil change. I had the oil changed at a local shop and thought that it was only the dealer that can reset that light so I didnt mind it. Does the light reset as soon as the oil level is at its right place or does it have to be reset?

Thanks for the info guys. Ive been a mercedes guy its my first porsche.

There are two different messages you can receive. First, says "Service Now"(or something like that. The second says "Check oil level." The second message means your oil is low.

The 'service' message means it's time for service based on the number of miles you've driven, or the time that has elapsed since the last oil change.
