Cayenne or 545i?

Im looking to upgrade my drive. the budget is $25000. Its either a Cayenne S or a 545i BMW.

This would be my weekend toy. Both vehicles will be outfitted with wheels & exhaust!!

BMW
exhaust: Magnaflow Quad with oval tips
wheels: D2FORGED VS1 21'

Cayenne
exhaust: Milltek SPORT exhaust
wheels: Modulare B11 23'

Could anyone share their pleasure or pain of owning/driving either vehicle. Any costly problems ?

In my opinion neither are "weekend" cars. To me a weekend car is something a bit sportier, small, and more fun. That might just be me.

What is your daily that will take a builk of your driving time? If it is a large SUV I'd recommend something smaller. If it is a Civic I'd recommend the Cayenne if you need the utility.

I have a f-150 v6 for my detail business & i haul my motorcycle from time to time. I want to have FUN driving! The 545i would be a 6speed manual transmission. I guess i should have said EUROPEAN HOT ROD instead of weekend toy

What years?
I'd prefer Porsche over a BMW.

I think your better off with the Porsche unless you plan to get the 6 cylinder BMW..
the V8 are very expensive to keep up and break alot.

I am not sure where you are getting that info, I know there is the coolant pipe issue (Which is an easy DIY) other then that they are DEAD reliable. I have owned 5 BMW V8s (4 M60 1 S62) and they have been just as reliable as the I6 counterparts.

That being said, what do you want the car for? You want a weekend warrior? In my opinion, a weekend warrior is a fun, sporty, semi impractical car. I think the 545i would be more "fun" since it is a sedan vs an SUV, already being lower to the ground and lighter.

not completely sure how to answer this since they're two completely different cars, one is a SUV and the other is a sedan. I'm not even sure how you would compare them.

i had a '07 550, also stick shift. great car, a ton of fun. i wouldn't say it's as exciting to drive as a m3, but it just depends on what you want. it was my only car at the time and i thought it was a pretty reasonable choice in having a sedan while having some fun with a decently fast car with a 6-speed manual.

that being said, if you're looking for a weekend car, then get the 545. the SUV i think is a compromise between sporty and practical. while i think the 545 is the same thing, it's closer on the spectrum to sporty. plus it's a 6speed.

How about Porsche 993? The price is around there unless you go with 993 turbo or C4S or CS.

Two totally different cars. I have an S. It drives like a truck, but much faster and 10 times cooler. It is really functional and a great way to go if you have a family and/ or need to haul stuff around. My wife has a BMW convertible, great to drive too, but no space, and only seats four.

Price: $25000 i can get a nice choice of either vehicle.

Style: Monoblock vs Deep dish

Fun Factor: 6 speed vs automatic

Maintenance: ????

Issues: electrical maybe???

I've read reviews, everyone seem to enjoy the Cayenne. I been following BMW since a young age,its a Drivers car.

After working all week i want to go out an have a drive to escape the madness,as well as have a blast!!

Its a nice bodystyle. Don't know too much about them. A friend of mine always talks about the 997.

This is exactly what i need a "Weekend Warrior". i always admired BMW's taut suspension. M5's M3's etc

it's a PORSCHE

The BMW is a convertible, so additional items ate required. Just had the bands in top replaced and that was $200

It is the small things that get you. For example the cayenne has 2 drain plugs and when you do an oil change u have to change the washers in plug, that is $5. Plus mobil 1 is $8.29 a quart and I use 9 in cayenne, but 6 in BMW.

There are two air filters in cayenne, and only one in my BMW.

I had my rear brakes done in BMW for $200, no idea what it will cost for cayenne but bet much more than $200.

Tires are larger so they will cost more.

Anyway, love the truck and even though I pay more to own/maintain, it is worth it to me. I have all the space I need, I am comfortable, and it goes fast when I need it to go fast.

I plan to get a 911 in 5-6 years, but could easily see myself getting another cayenne instead.
