Summer 20' tires - trying to choose

Stock - Continental 4x4 SportContact - $398/Tire

Trying to decide:
Yokohama ADVAN Sport - $389
Pirelli PZero Rosso - $329
Pirelli PZero - $240 on Special
Yokohama Parada Spec-X - $185

I am not interested in the Continental again as they sucked in the wet. I have a Snows and am looking for a fun tire.

Are the PZero 1/2 has good as Rosso and Advan?

I am leaning towards the ADVANs = $$$ = must be the best?

I think the Parada is an all-season tire and will have some compromises in the summer performance. For the price of $240 I would go with the Pzero as that is a good price and the ratings are good. If the Pzero wasn't on special then I might be tempted to try the General Grabber UHP but I have no experience with them other than the price is low and the ratings are pretty high on the Tirerack. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Went for the Pzeros. We do not track the truck so decided to save the money over the Yokos. Fingers crossed.

Good choice. Let us know how you like them. Probably need to drive them for 100 to 150 miles before they perform as intended (you need to wear off the release agent) and then see how they compare to the Contis when they were new (if you can remember how they performed) as tires tend to get louder as they wear and, of course, the hydroplanning resistance decreases, etc.

I've had P Zeros and Contis in the past. I also went with a cheap set of Hankooks for one change, and that was a mistake. I'm back on Contis right now. P Zeros stick like glue on dry pavement, but they don't last long - especially on a big, heavy truck.

I just put a set of Vredestein's on my '04 S and LOVE them. I've had just about everything on mine and these are by far the best tires in my humble opinion. Oh yeah, 275 / 20 on OEM wheels.

Paradas have been most popular and seem to hold up really well, even under hard summer use. For the value I'd probably try them first. The Advans will be a harder cornering tire, but you are going to have to push them much harder to get the difference in cost out of them.

Please give me a call if I can help!

Had PZero Rosso and they were fine, but wore out quickly.

Changed to Michelin Latitude HP Tour. The tires are quiet and comfortable, and I have already driven more miles than the Rossos and only wore through half of the tire.

There are cheaper tires, but I would get another set of Michelin next time.

I'll second the opinion on the Vredesteins. I got the ultrac sessentas in 275/45/19 on stock wheels for about $215 each. They ride great and stick like glue in dry and wet.

How comfortable is the ride in the Vredesteins? I have 20" wheels. Wondering about 275/45/20 instead of 275/40/20.

The Vred's are the best at everything out of the 6 different sets I've had on the vehicle. Best in rain, quietest, best handling, best ride, period. I've had Diamaris, Yoko Advans, Generals (great tire for the $, and would do again if not for the Vred's) Cont's, Dunlops andBridgestones.
