License Plate Lights
License Plate Lights
Know many of you have had the "Check License Plate Lights" warning. It was very irritating on my '05 - the bulbs worked and there were no fuzes burned out -yes checked everyone!
No power was going to the lights checked at the connector. Ran power separately to the lights and they both popped on - even though only one side was powered and they are wired separately. It was strange then - because both lights continued to work normally....
What I did to fix it was wiggling the light switch - turning it back and forth to turn the lights on and off. Explains the fuze and bulbs being fine and no power to the lights. Will see how long the fix lasts - my light switch normally is in the Auto position.

Mine just started to do this also. They are leds, and they will work and the error goes away if you cycle the lights on and off. I'll try new leds, and if that does not work, will go back to original festoon bulbs.
I had this same issue and the dealer said my connector to my rear comfort module was not plugged all the way in and they plugged it back in correctly and I have not had that issue since then.
It was the cheap leds'. Went to orig bulbs- error gone. JMToy makes led bulbs with tiny heat sinks. They may last longer. The resistors on mine blackened, showing up as 'bulb out'. You get what you pay for. But since it is a 2 second install, some people I spoke to are just stocking a lot of the cheap leds'. Bottom line- change the bulbs.
My plate lights - one is stock and the other is LED on a back-up camera. Everything has worked perfectly after rotating the light switch a few times....positive that this was the issue...
For me, I can get no error msg. with a stock bulb on the right, and NO bulb on the left! Weird how it is wired. Try putting your camera led on the left, and stock bulb on the right! The switching on and off of the lights seems to 'activate' bad leds, at least for me. Switching on and off from the dash would make the lights come on, but no error. The experiment continues...Because I like leds on my Black car with white plate. The rest is stock/ premium. I am willing to invest 50 bucks on the science project.
