2011 V6 to 2009 Turbo
2011 V6 to 2009 Turbo
Thinking of getting out of my '11 V6 6sp. Probably won't do it but the wife is pushing for me to get an auto car since its our only one
We live in the city so she never drives but it would be nice to have that option.
Will i regret getting rid of the 2011 in favor of an '09 Turbo? Other then the updated interior, what will i miss from the 2011?
Also, i know that the '09 & '10 957's have an updated PCM but is it the same as the 2011 or is that even more updated?
What do you guys think about this car?

i understand the auto vs manual dilema, but ya I've had them both, and once I sold my GTS, I never looked back.
When I get in friends Cayenne's that are pre 2011 now I feel they are dated.
With that said, a turbo is different than a v6, and a manual is different than auto.
Those are the two different factors I would debate.
I LOVE the interior of my new Turbo, LOVE.
Every SUV, our ML, the X5M we drove before, the Escalade, Landcruiser, whatever, they all feel odd without the sloped dash that the new 2011+ Cayenne's have.
BUT you have to do what you have to do, if your wife needs to drive an auto, and she cant learn a manual, done deal.
You will like the turbo and after a few months, you will probably like the power more than the new 2011 design.... not 100% on that though.
I would miss the 8 speed that mine has, but your still in a 6 speed, so it's not a huge difference....
Good luck.

Wow, that is really some people ordered a MT. and it's a V6. (we have v6 3.0T here, I assume the states have v6 3.6)
Dun care too much about fuel consumption. what we are talking here, is tones of steel. if you start looking at the turbo, forget about how much gas it takes. just refill it before the tank goes empty. "Vroom-vroom" will make you happy all the time =)

. We'll see if this deal pans out but i have ZERO qualms about keeping my current vehicle. Just figured it was worth some investigating if i found the perfect vehicle, which i still haven't found.
Nothing against any of the pre 2011 Cayenne owners but there is a massive difference in the cars - I was on the fence of buying a 2010 GTS and once I test drive a Cayenne S '11 I just could not go back. I am a technology geek and the new stuff is too cool. Teaching her how to drive stick (like mine hehe) is probably cheaper then getting out and into a new ride - just send her on manual driving classes
The PCM in the new model is much better in terms of map quality, 3D graphics and overall looks of it. But you still get BT and probably IPOD with the updated PCM in the 09 or 10. The gas mileage on my 2011 CTT is around 19mpg but I do mostly hwy.
If you test drive the turbo then you will be done!

Admit it you just want an excuse to get a turbo
And, yes. I am intrigued by the power of a turbo. You could say that this decision is more for me then her, but i need some way to justify it
Funny,this 6MT thread reminds of a motorcycle i had back in the day{brief off topic:roll eyes:}
From the mid 80's to 90's,i lived in Paris, where u have lots n lots of really cool bikes all around
I had a few yamaha xt600's,then a Honda's xl 600
ALL without an electric start(and boy if you did not kick-down to start at the EXACT moment required..you could get a kick return that could snap back and break your ankle
Nevertheless, starting the bike myself was quite a treat(especially when I would rev it up to keep that engine going after another successful start!)... so I promised myself I would NEVER use an electric start...
Then some guy showed me a modded 90' Honda NX 650(aka as the Dominator in europe with 60hp,weighing 300lbs)
It was the first i had seen to have a kick-start AND electric start at same time
I bought it on the spot, telling the seller that i liked the electric start, but would probably never use it,never having had one before
His final words were...:you will NEVER again use the kick
I answered,:"I might use it every now and then...
True to his words(and definitely not to mine!),i only used it once in 5 years...when my battery was real low and bike would not start
{back on topic...i think}
To make a looong story short
...
...I think it is better to have power AND convenience
