Cleaning inside 955 headlights
Cleaning inside 955 headlights
Just wanted to say something that has bothered me for awhile is now (apparently) fixed. It started with a bad cornering light connection on the headlight itself. I cleaned the terminals and sprayed with deoxit gold. Worked like a charm, but I must have been a little too sloppy because I developed an oily film inside the clear light shell. Also had less light output. I thought I had seen a photo of someone cleaning inside the unit from the main headlight hole. Without finding any pictures or info on this, well, I"m here to say It is possible to do this in 10 minutes flat per side. I twirled a 1x2 foot clean microfiber cloth, soaked in windex, inside, while positioning a rag with a *cross fingers* a velvet covered, flat metal coat hanger. I only had the problem on one side, but now it looks showroom new, better than the untouched side that I thought was perfect. Light output and light quality are visibly up. The main D1S Bulb/ lens/ motor unit comes out with four easy screws and two small connectors. You can safely leave the bulb in the holder when you expose the 2" sharp corrigated metal hole that you will be working in. I will update if i see moisture. but so far, a great way to make your vehicle look great.
No pics 'cause Wifey had me busy. I guess even if you think the inside of the light unit is clean, you don't know clean until it looks like there is no plastic there.

I will take a picture of the outside results soon. I'm not going to pull it out again till something needs fixing on that side.Temp went from 55 to 81 degrees today in NY, and had no fogging or contact issues all day. Lights were on for 1 hr. this morning. Very satisfied,
