Exclamation Gas Smell after Fill Up

When I fill up my '04 CTT (70K Miles), I now get gas fume smell for a couple days. No leaks on floor or anything like that. I suspect that the seal on the input pipe to the tank is leaking. The gas cap looks OK and I no not get any check engine light.

Anyone have a similar experience and solution?

And if so, is it a DYI project or a trip to the dealer? I pulled the rubber flap around the fill pipe but did not find anything. It does not look like easy access.

Thanks

I've seen/heard of a number of cases where one of the gaskets around the pump access ports has gone bad. One side is the fuel pressure regulator, the other is the fuel filter. Both are under the floor, under the rear seat. You have to cut the carpet and remove an access port to get to each one. It's almost a DIY if you don't mind working around gasoline and the fumes (and I'd suggest doing it OUTSIDE with a fire extinguisher handy, and all the windows down in the P!G. And do it when the tank is almost empty.
