2008 Cayenne S - Feedback Needed Please !
Hey guys. I am in the process of selling our 06 BMW X5 and am thinking of moving to a 2008 Cayenne S.
Can you guys let me know some feedback on these.
How is the following:
- reliability
- maintenance
- extended warranty options
- worth the money vs other SUVs (Audi Q7, Range Rover Sport SC, BMW 4.8 X5)
- Things to look for while shopping
Any feedback will be great. I really appreciate it.

Hi....
We just bought our 08 CS 2 weeks ago and love it! We looked at the Q7 as well by were scared away by its reliability issues. Test drove a BMW X5 and it was no match to driving the Porsche.
Ours is not a CPO but it still has some factory warranty left. If you can find one CPO, get it. Of course, get a PPI done before you purchase it. One last thing I would say is get 2009 model or newer since, personally, I like the PCM on those better than 08 or older.
Good luck w/ your shopping...

Do you know the diff between the 08s PCM and the newer version. Technically we don't even need it since out of all our cars I think we have used nav once over the past 5 years. haha.
Yeah that is what we were looking at. We wend to the dealer for a closer look. I love the overall style of the Range Rover Sport Supercharged but was worried about the quality of the build. It still seemed like a flimsy build. I guess I am just used to German cars where doors weight a ton but even the widow seals and the matte finish along the back window looked like it would not stand up to time and could start to look very weathered in the near future.
I got another quick question....
The CS suspension is air ride, correct ? With fully adjustable ride height?
Looking at some that are for sale on AT it looks like the sit really high off the wheels. Im a little to no gap guy. I would like to do a set off 22's but not sure if I would have to update the suspension also or if it is already adjustable. This will be a strictly street driven car. We already have a huge lifted truck for off road.

The air suspension is an option on CS, but standard on the turbos. There were very few of CS with air suspension in the market when I was looking around. I think you would be fine by having 22" wheels with air suspension (since the wheel/tire diameter would remain the same, I think). Regarding the 09+ PCM, I think the tel module on the newer ones are better and (I could be wrong) support bluetooth.

I have seen that there are lowering spring offered for the Cayenne's but have not read that much into it.
Thanks man. So the suspension on the CS that you have is what kind of set up? I thought there were different modes for adjusting the ride from within the cabin?

A friend has a Turbo w/ air suspension and he loves it!
It really dose not matter to me. I agree with you, one less thing to break.
And you can get a set of lowering springs for around $300 i think.
How much gap do you have between you tire and well?

Air supension - for my 08 CS TT - if you set it max high or low, it will go back to the normal position when you drive hard or on the freeway. The Sport mode is what makes the difference with regards to performance.
