Why Cat-Bypass pipes?
Why Cat-Bypass pipes?
Does it really make any difference? I know in the BMW M3 performance world it's also a popular "mod" among people who like to mod their cars - but no real performance gains have been seen unless the owner also added forced-induction at the same time. Modern cats are low-restriction, and I can't imagine gaining significant HP by removing them..
Anyone dyno'd an S with and without?

Like you said, I doubt it really adds that much HP for a naturally aspirated car like the Cayenne S. However, this neglects that any sound improvements from the opened up exhaust might be the real value for some. Especially if you can score a used set of bypass pipes from another member (I see them every once in a while).
Exhaust note is certainly important to myself as a self-proclaimed car enthusiast.
However, if we were talking about the CTT, this would be a much different response...

better for CTT. But from what I have seen. Some hp is picked up even on the CS. I think another aspect is the sound which makes it more fun to drive. Maybe a bigger smile on your face when you get on it.. I dunno.
Scot is right. Better for the CTT since it allows the turbos to spool up faster. This means better acceleration and potentially more boost. So the net here is better acceleration, notable bump in HP, better sound.

FWIW, I am not sure if CS and CTT exhaust pipes are interchangeable. Moreover, I am not sure if the 4.5 (955) and 4.8 (957) pipes are interchangeable. Willing to cross-referencing if it helps anyone.
