What years - PCM versions support bluetooth phones
I have been looking at mid 2000 Cayennes and the radio/pcm versions have got me really confused. I have seen a few with basic radios and a few with the PCM/nav setup.

The core questions that I have...
- Is the NAV and PCM they same thing or is the NAV a add-on to the PCM?
- I see a lot of talk about PCM 2.0, 2.1 and a & b versions. Are these software or hardware upgrades? Are there any FAQs that list the differences
- I think I care most about bluetooth itegration. Do these mid 2000s support bluetooth phone dialing?
- I have seen a lot of threads that discuss using the NavTv Bose Itegration module to install aftermarket radios. This one as an example - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...-controls.html - Can this be done as an upgrade from the basic non-nav radio? This seems like a cool optition if I end up with a really basic cayenne.
Nav and PCM (Porsche Communication Management) are the same thing. PCM 2.0 is a CD-based system that was in 2003 and 2004 cars and PCM 2.1 is a DVD-based system. None of them support Bluetooth. Your best option is to buy an aftermarket kit like Mobridge. For Bluetooth to work with it, you'll need to have a headunit that has telephone buttons. This should be the case for PCM 2.1 cars, 2005 and later. I don't think this will work with the basic radio. If you have the basic radio, your best bet is probably replacing the headunit completely to a more modern unit that has Bluetooth as a feature.
Good luck!

Thanks... if i were to get one with a basic radio do you use that ~$500 navtv interface units? I have seem them referneced a few times as bose interface units. Does the basic radio have a bose system that needs that interface?
The issue isn't with Bose, it's with the MOST fiber-optic ring. You need the adapter to tap into the MOST ring. I'm not sure if you would still need this with the very basic radio, but I suspect that you would. The MOST ring is how the headunit communicates with the amp and the CD-changer. The speakers still use copper wires.
