APR R1 Diverter Valves
APR R1 Diverter Valves
I getting ready to add a couple mods to my 08 CTT. Mods will include Leistung SR1 muffler, primary downpipes, IPD plenum, CAI along with a tune. I will change out my diverter valves. I am giving the APR R1 valves serious consideration. For those that have experience with them, chime in and give me your thoughts about them. Give pros and cons in comparison to billet diverter such as Forge or EVOMS. "Zero maintenance" is my main draw to them.
I haven't made up my mind on a tuner yet. I'm tied between EVOMSit, Softronic, and Eurocharged. If you want to drop a line about that as well, by my guest.
Thanks in advance.

The tune is so expensive because all these shops still think you paid 100k for an SUV
I have had several boosted cars and run Forge or other "piston" style valves. They all claim no maintenance but I have found that not to be true. Eventually they start to stick and need cleaned up and re-oiled.
So for the CTT I put on the APR-R1s. I wanted factory like reliability and maintenance. APR told me to get the "Blue" spring when ordering. (They did the research on it not me) .
When you install them you will be happy to have a low maintenance item. Not the easiest valve locations for getting then in and out.
Mine have been in there since 8-2011, no notable issues so far.
Here is my quoted post from when installed them.

Sorry for the delay guys. Sometimes I kinda forget about my CTT. It was time to dust it off and figure out the issues since the dealer had been no help. I ordered some APR R1 Diverter valves for the car. They did not list them on their site and had to do some "research" to make sure they would work properly with this set up. Finally got them Friday and rushed to put them in Saturday. I wanted these over the "piston style" diverter valves simply to reduce maintenance in the future. These are an upgraded diaphram style similar to the factory units. On the CTT they are located in a very inconvient place to change so you don't want to go in every 10K miles to relube them like some piston style vlaves require. CTT now accelerates MUCH smoother and MUCH harder than it did before. I think this is the issue that was holding me back from getting a good solid dyno run on the Upsolute chip. Think the chip just exposed the weakness of my old stock BPVs. Just to be on the safe side I also have new coils on the way. They should be here tomorrow. I will get them on and hit the dyno ASAP. I can say already that with good working BPVs the CTT with the Upsolute chip is very fun to drive now.
Here are some pics of the APR R1 BPVs APR R1 BPV sitting next to the factory valve. Obvioulsy with 2 turbos you need to buy two of these. Ask for the "blue" springs to be installed.

I've had the APR DVs for a couple of years now with no issues. It builds boost the same and it holds. Went with a Eurocharged tune and love it - they hold true if you ever want to tweak it (free). I'm fortunate to live in Houston with them so it was pretty easy to arrange.

I have also been looking to order for my '03 Ctt but like you said the website does not include them for some odd reason, can you steer me in the right direction on ordering them also? I see you said to ask for the "blue" spring as well and I will do that but did you call APR to custom order them or were these found on another site non specific but will work? Thanks

Cole,
You must have some clout. I called APR yesterday asking about the "blue" springs. The rep seemed like he really didn't know what I was talking about. When I mentioned the amount of boost I was going for, he said the regular R1 valves would be fine.
