Steering Column adjust
Steering Column adjust
Just swapped out the speaker in the instrument panel and I now have warning sounds! Whilst the dash was in bits I changed the steering column switch to see if the column adjust would finally work. Well, no!! I checked all of the fuses on the left hand dash fuse box. None blown. So I am again back to square one. I checked the wiring diagram and it seems that the seat adjust shares the same fuse. Well that works. Unless there is a relay somewhere the only things left are a siezed motor or broken wire...help
There is no noise when the switch is pressed in ay direction. I have located the small drive belt and cannot move it. You said check the fuse on the right hand side of the dash. That's the passenger side right?. After checking the wiring schematic it looks like the switch harness plugs into the box under the seat. So should I be able to turn the motor under the column with the belt or is it tight because of the gearing.
Any ideas

Yes, check the fuses on the passenger side. From what I remember, you should be able to turn the motor with the belt by hand, so it's quite possible the motor is locked up. Unfortunately, I don't think the motor is available separately from the column, which is going to be around $1,000.00.
Thanks Tim
I will check your suggestions. This is why I bought a 2004 S to work on. I have completed most of the issues with this truck. Just the coolant pipes to go. This is a great machine to work on as it is well put together in the factory. It always puts a smile on my face when I squeeze the loud pedal.

After checking the electrics including the switch and fuse my opinion now is that as suggested the motor has siezed solid. Oh well I will remove it and test it on the bench.
Since it's highly unlikely that Porsche makes that little motor, once you get it out you should find a part number or manufacturer. Once you do that, you can order one- or one just like it.
