Cayenne Headliner Problems - What you need to know!
Hi All,
Thought I'd share my experience with my Headliner issue for you all.
My 2006 Cayenne S is about 6 months old in our family, with one previous owner. The car was down in palm beach florida prior to my purchase. Now it resides in Westchester NY.
My headliner began to sag in the back storage area (behind the rear seats) a few weeks after purchase, and then got worse over the next month or so. With the windows down, it then pulled out and was completely sagging from the middle of the car to the back. It was time for replacement.
I took it to a Porsche dealer and they wanted $5000 dollars for a complete fabric & glue job to fix it.
I then took it to a local car upholstery shop, and they said it would be $2k and that the fabric was so hard to find, and that the OEM was on backorder and has been for years.
I then took it to another local car upholstery place (independent, they work on leather and fabric for interior cars and cycles) and they used an american fabric and it cost $800.
You can't tell a difference with the american vs. OEM even if I pointed it out...
I have also learned that the glue Porsche used doesn't age well and that this is a new problem that is showing up in more cayennes about 5-7 years old.
So, to all, I would reco the american fabric to anyone going thru this issue, and you may have to also because the OEM fabric isn't available in many areas.
Best of luck!
