'09 GTS noise on hard acceleration

New to me '09 GTS with 20k miles on it...just took it on my first road trip and need some remote idagnostic help. When passing someone on a narrow two lane in the Berkshires using about 3/4 throttle [not quite burying the gas pedal but a good firm shove], I get a very brief whine that sounds like belt slip. It was repeatable and lasts for about 2-3 seconds and stops w/o me letting up on the throttle. My wife thought it was tire squeal which was pretty funny...someday, I will own another 930 that can break traction at 75 mph, but not this car. Any ideas? The car is otherwise great and makes zero odd noises...

Does it sound like a supercharger?

Not really...more belt slip, less mechanical whine

Have you inspected the belt?

I did, looks virtually new. It does have only 20k on it...

Had you driven through a puddle or had water been on the belt?

I've had a belt slip for a few seconds due to water before.

You might want to take the belt off and inspect the pullys. Could have a bearing seized.

Yup. Believe me, you don't want to be in the middle of nowhere when the belt pops. Happened to me a few weeks ago...
