zimmerman brake rotors????
whassup guys ,,has anyone heard of zimmerman brake rotors,,, are they the oem rotors that are used on the brembo brakes i8 was looking into crossed drilled rotors for my pepper and i found them from nights auto any info will help,,thanks
I have been searching as well. There seems to be a few auctions on ebay with them and they are priced pretty decently.
I also learned about Suncoast recently. They sell 2 piece rotors that are OEM size and can be drilled or slotted. They run about $1900 for a set from what I was told.

There is a big weight savings from these as opposed to the zimmerman one piece boat anchors. The price does reflect that though.

I bought a pair of front Zimmermans for my S. They are very nice but I have not put them on yet as the original ones are fine. I did the pads only (post on rennlist for those interested).
I would not buy from the people I bought them from, they messed up the pricing and I only found out that they screwed up after delivery.
I paid $329.

Hi guys,
I'm the supplier of the two piece rotors provided by Suncoast and now available for the Cayenne.
Bigdog it's my understanding Zimmermann is the manufacturer of OE rotors found on many Euro performance braking systems. Very good OE rotor and provides large mass to avoid brake overheating. Unfortunately, they provide this advantage at the price of a very heavy weight component at a critical part of the car. It is a huge heavy rotating mass when you're trying to max perform the brakes and it is also a heavy item of unsprung weight thereby reducing the effectiveness of the suspension.
A question was asked regarding the EBay rotors.
Here is the EBay search result for Cayenne rotors. I have no opinion as to the quality of these rotors.

I've been able to have the OE Cayenne rotor blueprinted and duplicated in a two piece design. It incorportates the Aluminum Hat and cast iron rotor ring. Same concept and appearance as the ones pictured on the Suncoast website and in their earlier thread. There are also pics on my website. They are truly much lighter weight than the OE version. They save just under 14 pounds per pair. That's enormous when considering it's in the category of rotating mass and unsprung weight.
Lighter weight comes at the price of a custom fabricated rotor and these, although differing in dimensions compared to the 996 TT, are priced the same as the 996 TT.
Whether the performance improvements can justify the price is up to you. I'll be the first to admit the Cayenne isn't a GT 3 in performance on a road race course or auto cross, but the handling and braking capabilities it has are better than most all-out performance cars on the market.
Best Regards

Two Piece solid mount------$1,800
Two Piece floating mount--$1,900
For applications including track days, racing or auto cross, I recommend the Floating Mount. Otherwise, it isn't necessary and a two piece solid mount rotor is perfect. BTW, the solid and floating mount both weigh the same.
