Four wheel drive system faulty
Four wheel drive system faulty
I have a 2006 Cayenne S. Over the last couple of months I've been getting the "Four wheel drive system faulty" message popping up randomly while driving. When I shut the car off and restart it generally goes away only to came back at a later time. The 4 wheel drive system still appears to be working fine as far as I can tell and the car drives without any issues.
I remember reading something a while back about possibly some transmission sensor going bad. Supposedly it's a quick and easy swap. Can anyone shed any light on this regarding the fix and the parts (part #s) involved? Thanks in advance.

I'd prefer not to ignore it but rather fix it. It never used to do it before.

Not enough voltage IMO. BTDT.
There are many crappy batteries out there including Interstate sometimes that have a short life. Cayenne's have a lot of electric gadgets that consume power.
My original Verta slowly fading but I keep topping off with distilled and put it on the CTek charger every now & then.

When the light is OFF... shift the CS in neutral and toggle Low Range several times. It just needs to be "used" occasionally. When not used - the electrical contacts corrode slightly, which triggers the "4-wheel drive system faulty" message, whenever a voltage drop is detected.
Battery is fine, about 1 year old. Never any issues starting. Voltage is stable, never drops. I doubt it's the battery. I haven't gotten the fault message in a few months now so we'll see.

sounds interesting - I think I will try this.
Battery - when my car is cold and the battery isn't charged well (short trips with the car) it lights up when I start the car. Also it really started happening when I upgraded the nav to a double din unit. I turn off the car and start it up again and the light goes off.
