Cayenne V6--2008--key in ignition-no warning

There should be an alarm if I leave my lights on, and leave my Cayenne taking my key with me. There isn't.

There should be an alarm if i forget and leave my key in the ignition switch. There isn't.

I need to fix this!

Is there a switch in driver's door that has failed? Where is it located? I feel silly. I've looked and looked

Have you fixed this? What did you do?

Dave

It still doesn't work. Shop replaced the ignition switch, and the defective speaker behind the instrument panel.

Have you tried getting codes out of the car with durametric?
Honestly, the Durametric cable and SW from their site should be #1 on everyone's purchase list as soon as they get the car. Without it, many pd items are hard to nail down, forcing you to guess (aka spend $$$ unnecessarily). Hope you get your answers though.

Thanks. However mechanic at the shop I used wasted my money

I found a more knowledgable mechanic. There is a switch inside the driver's door, inside the latch assembly

My shop took 5 weeks. They removed and replaced the ignition switch. $500 Canadian. 5 weeks later they replaced the speaker on the back of the instrument panel. at no cost

Leo knew where the switch was. 5 minutes later he was spraying the switch attempting to restore it to operation. He is incredible. I shall have him replace the latch assembly in my Cayenne

Car key left in ignition alarm

The latch will soon be replaced. It's on order from Porsche Canada.

No alarm with key in ignition switch solved

Thanks so much! Latest problem was latch related. The alarm quit that warned me i left the key in the ignition

Fixed. at great cost

The driver's door has a switch for the alarm built in.

Second mechanic ordered a latch assembly from Porsche. Changed it

I contributed to the first mechanic's college fund. He changed the ignition switch, and later changed the speaker on the back of the instrument panel. He also removed the door panel, and installed brand new rattles and squeaks, which the second mechanic removed

I'm poorer now. However, I am warned when I leave the key in the lock.

Best,
Dave
