How to tell if power steering pump shaft broken
How to tell if power steering pump shaft broken
Had belt incident recently. Replaced belt with bunch other stuff, when started the car ran for less than minute and broke the steering pump pulley (broke in half.
Before putting new belt, made sure all pulleys (except crank) were free spinning and stiff without wobble. They all were. Replaced tension pulley and shock.
So looking for ideas.
Is it possible last belt damaged the pulley and on this start it just gave up? The first break, belt shredded and pieces of it were thrashing around bay, taking out various hoses, etc.
I did notice part of the original belt were stuck behind the steering pump pulley, but managed to get everything out and made sure it spins without resistance and no wobble.
Ideas greatly welcome. Going insane here. Really want fix myself.
