Driver door lock latch actuator
Driver door lock latch actuator
Anyone on here replace or repair the driver door lock latch actuator?
My symptom is the seat no longer moves automatically when I open door, trunk does not open when i open driver side door (have to open any other door for it to automatically unlock).
Based on my searching, it is that door (driver side) actuator that is bad. Wondering how difficult a job it is to do on my own. Thanks for help.

I'm new here and just found your post. I don't know if you have had this fixed yet or not? Mine went out and I dealt with it for a little while until it was no longer worth struggling with. I replaced mine myself. It can be done BUT its not easy. The part was fairly cheap as it was a VW part anyway. It takes A LOT of patience and time. If you are mechanically inclined you can probably do it. I am not a mechanic but was able to do it myself. I tried to film it but it made the process 10 times longer so I just put the camera away and got to work. My driver side window actuator failed which was the real reason I decided to tackle the lock actuator as well. The crazy part was that you actually have to drill out 4 rivets along the top of the panel (if I remember correctly) to pull the inner sheet metal liner off. Not a big deal as you can get a rivet gun with a variety pack of rivets at a hardware store for between $10-$20. I took it to a mechanic prior to starting anything and had him look at it and all he ended up doing was breaking my door panel by my speaker and then lied about it. He said they "couldn't figure it out." I knew that having a shop do it was either going to cost me way too much or it never gets done. There are very few shops around me that don't charge a massive "Porsche Badge Tax" even for simple things. Actually I am still looking for one.
Below is a link to a youtube video of a guy replacing a window regulator. Its long (so fast forward) and the guy isn't a "professional mechanic" either but he did it. Its the same steps as replacing the window regulator because you need to get that metal inner liner off to access the lock actuator. Just make sure you research the right part for your model.
Here is the part I used for mine and it works great: https://www.ebay.com/itm/174365197872?ul_noapp=true
I hope this helps.
