957 std exhaust Q

Hi all,

bought a base cayenne and it needs a bit of work, one thing I’ve done already is change out the two sports cans on the back for a std turbo S Backbox as it was too loud for my wife.it quieted it a little but not enough, it really rasps Badley when accelerating so I’m wondering if it should have a center box as well.it’S a duel pipe system so not sure if I should add a center silencer ??

Do you have cat bypass pipes also? There is not a middle resonator on the cayenne. There is a primary cat, a secondary cat which acts like a resonator but I think they’re too small to be classified as one. Then lastly there is the rear muffler. Maybe put the stock system back on?

Tks for the reply

all cats in place , bought it with aftermarket and removed, fitted with std Porsche rear suitcase and still silly loud .might pull it to check if it’s bypassed internally so , good to know it didn’t come with a center box tho

More than likely somethings not right. Check the flex pipes on the primary cats. They do tend to crack with some miles. Your car should be relatively quiet

I checked the flex is and in good nick, Tks for the suggestion.I’d say at this stage it’s a modified Backbox and as the systems about ten pieces badley welded together I picked up a completely std 4.5vi8 system and will swap that over. Will report back....
