Cardan shaft issues again.

Hi all! I am really hoping someone can help before I pull my hair out. I Have a 955 Cayenne S and under hard acceleration I was getting a thumping through the centre armrest. Sure enough the rubber bushing around the centre support bearing had failed, I replaced the entire shaft with a brand new GKN shaft. However I still have the same thumping through the centre armrest. What could it be? Bad shaft? Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.

Good morning Sparkysi, I'm assuming you haven't put many miles on your Cayenne since the new shaft. If that's the case it's likely a defective shaft/center bearing. Did you verify it was the center bearing support that has failed? Call the manufacturer and report a warranty claim. It happens, bet your installation will be much quicker this time. Cheers!

Hi and thanks for your reply. I ended up returning the shaft as after inspection once I removed it again there was play in the splines and the rubber in the bearing carrier was really soft. Replaced the shaft with a new one and problem solved. Thanks again. Simon
