K&N air filter question

I am about to install my K&N filter for my Cayenne but when i called the dealer to set the appointment to install the service manager told me that if i install it, the oil from the filter may damage the air flow sensor (and warranty would be voided)... Should i not install the filter and just leave it stock or should i not worry about it?

anybody with any experiences with a K&N filter?

thanks,

BD

This is the funniest thread I have ever read, on this basis no Porsche would ever be under warranty. Porsche actually recommend BMC filters as a racing filter. They work the same way as K&N filters.

I have had BMC's on for 40k plus miles with only dealer servicing.

if you google k&n, oil, sensor or MAF, you'll understand the controversy.

There's quite a battle going on and K&N is fighting back. Many dealers are blaming malfunctioning MAF on K&N filters, K&N says it's impossible...

Competing filter mfg. are blaming it on additives in K&N oil, K&N then sued these mfg. and sent a CandD order. It's actually quite a mess with a half dozen car mfg...

Probably Zero, It just improves the throttle response

One more question (from someone who has never done much of mods)...does more throttle response = faster acceleration or just a "feeling" of faster acceleration.

Does the acceleration improve i.e. can a vehicle with the special filter beat the one without special filter (assuming all else is identical)?

Thanks

I know the throttle response is better, I think therefore the head to head would be won by the filtered car but by a fraction.

It only really makes a substantial difference when coupled with Cat Bypass Pipes or CatBack Exhaust. Then you can feel it and the extra 17hp.
