cayenne or tourage

So i got a Cayenne S from Porsche to play with while we work on my 996tts issue.. But i went to a VW dealer today looking at an EOS just to check it out... And the guy told me hey so u got the Tourage Special edition... or something like that .. I was like "huh"... not knowing the difference from a tourage and a cayenne S is 30k and looks.. thats it... I found this hard to believe and was told if i get the diesel version of the tourage and add exhaust and a chip its known as a Cayenne killer as it smokes Turbo Cayenne's.... I found this really hard to believe but i knew the guy telling me, so i was like wow... as he is known to be very factual.. I was woundering if there is truth to it.. Is the Cayenne a 30k dollar Tourage with a body kit and different interior... If thats the case... i dont think i want either.. Also is there truth to the turbo notion and the idea a diesel can bet it...

I leave it up to the GODS of 6speed to answer my question set fourth... HEHE

The Touareg diesel is a V10, 5L, 313 hp, 553 ft lbs. of torque monster! It has incredible off the line pull and decent handling as it comes with adjustable air suspension. It will not at the top end outrun a Cayenne or out handle it at the limits due to its weight. BUT for most uses it is amazing. There are both 2006 and 2007 models on sale right now. The 2006s are 50 state certified, due to reg changes the 2007s are 45 staters, no CA, MA, NY, VT or ME. The drive trains are the same, and both come loaded with navigation, leather, air suspension, etc. MSRP in the $69-71k range, some discounts are available if you shop around.

PHYSICAL: No, Cayenne and Toureg are X-tremely different. Yes they have a similar shape/look in the broadest perspective but thats about it. Inside and outside are similar but at the end of the day they are extremely different cars and the Cayenne will drive/feel like a Porsche and the Toureg like a Volkswagen. Besides, i have been in my friends Toureg (V8) and i get a ton more looks/attention in my Cayenne (V6)

Engine: I have no idea about a race between V10 Diesel and Cayenne Turbo, but without a doubt the Cayenne will sound better and wont have black smoke associated with diesel engines.

Verdict: Test drive each and see which you like better.....

So i am woundering is it better for the S or the tourage..Both have the same tranny, almost same HP with same engine i heard... same option for air suspension even the darn 4 zone climate control can be had on both...

if you are talking V8s, then no they are not the same. The Cayenne (and the V10 Touareg) have slightly larger brakes than the V8 Touareg. The Cayenne has a different transmission control module, the Touareg has Sport position which makes it more responsive than the Cayenne. Many Cayenne V8 owners have complained about a flat spot when accelerating from a stop. The Cayenne has larger rear sway bar which helps it handle better. I've driven the Cayenne at PDE and its better on the track than the T-reg but I like the VW on the street just as well. I've had both the V8 and V10 (which doesn't smoke or make much noise) and the V8 sounds better. Both can be chip tuned. As was said you just have to drive them and see what you like.

Ill still take the Cayenne. I will hopefully be buying a CTT sometime soon. but a Cayenne S could work too.

I have a CTT and absolutely love it. It's at the dealer right now and they lent me a cayenne S and still is a sweet a$$ SUV with very good handling and power.

There is no substitute!

We have got both a Cayenne and a Toureg, I would suggest the cayenne its has a much sportier charachter and an active steering feel compared to the numb touareg
