jlturpin is on a distinguished road
I have gone through mud and stuff and gotten rocks and crap on my brakes. Makes a lot of noise until you can get it cleaned out. Last time off road, I broke on of the bleeder nipple on the brake caliper when debris got caught between the wheel and caliper. Also scratched up the surface of 2 wheels pretty bad. Luckily I have a paint gun and the correct wurth paint to touch them up and all it broke was the nipple on the caliper.

Also, on another offroad trip, it ended up costing me an engine for my V8 Treg after going through some water, in the Extra High suspension setting. It did not hydrolock, but had a lot of valve noise after. I drove it for 5K miles with no problems, just a bunch of noise then replaced the engine. The water came about 1/3 way up the door. Turns out the intakes for both the Treg and Cayenne are at the bottom of the airbox.
