We don't want to see Porsche end up being another Mercedes-Benz or BMW kind of brand.
My brother's SL loses something like 12K a year in value, absolutely shameful. He thought it was a good investment (I could never figure him out).

I don't blame it on the dealers. It's the manufacturer that puts the dealers in a challenging position. In this case, the dealers are asked to move a SUV priced at $120K on volume. That's ridiculous.

Right. Most dealers with Cayenne Turbo S models didn't order these cars themselves. They were asked to take these cars off Porsche's hands with some extra money from the manufacturer. The problem was that they were all 2006 models. If Porsche had made them 2007 models, the whole situation would have been very different. With the 2008 models coming, they will be 2 years old in 2 weeks. That with the fact that the car is too much money for a SUV for most people, makes dealers discount the #$@% out of them. This is not a normal situation with Porsche. I have gotten our allocations for the spring, and there are not many cars coming I have to tell you. Porsche is now officially the most trouble free car in the US according to JD Power polls. They took Lexus' spot a few weeks ago. The quality improvents and Porsche's "quality and customer committment program" on the Cayenne have paid off. I drove the new Cayenne's, and I'm very certain we will do very well as dealers and also as customers with these cars.
