Are 2004's trouble?

I was researching the CTT on Rennlist, and the 04's seem to have many problems.

Someone on this board advised that it is the early 04's that have the majority of malfuntions. Can one tell a late model 04 by the suede headliner?

Please advise, as I am preparing to buy an 04.

Thanks.

FWIW, since the initial TSBs were performed (new remotes, rear deck latch), I haven't had a stitch of trouble. It's been one of the more reliable cars I've owned.

Although opinions vary greatly on this, I don't believe there's any reason not to get an 04. See this thread for more info:

My MY2004 Cayenne S has been virtually problem free - save for the same TSBs that everyone else has had (cowboy buckles, rear hatch, logo replacement, DME updates, etc.)
