Cayenne Turbo Power Upgrades?

I searched a couple of pages of this forum and didn't see any threads about power upgrades guys have had installed on their Cayenne Turbos. Who's making the best kit? I have a 1999 suburban that's making 840 RWTQ that I would like to retire in favour of something a little more modern! I was thinking that with the larger displacement (vs. 996TT) 700HP should be a starting point for the Cayenne Turbo?

Mike

Our good friend Todd at Evolution Motorsports has lots of power upgrade options available for your use and pleasure Mike. I had thoughts of taking my Cayenne to the good doctor Stephen at Imagine Auto. Lenexa, Kansas is closer to you than me my friend. See you there??

I was sure that EVOMS would have something available. Does anyone, here on 6Speed, have a GT700 Cayenne? Have there been any issues, like MAF? Does the Cayenne TT have dual MAFs? Anyone know at what HP they are pegged?

Thanks!

I have a GT700 Cayenne built by Evolution. I've put about 5000 miles on it so far and haven't had any problems. It drives like stock until you give it some gas. From a roll it will hang with my brothers stock 996tt.

The Evolution dyno (I believe that it's a mustang dyno) shows that this kit produces about 600 awhp and 620 ft lbs of torque.

It's a fun SUV and very well put together. Details and videos can be seen on Evoms website. www.evoms.com

two maf's... and no issues with those... Mike at the very least get a free flowing exhaust, chip it and maybe the intake... They feel pretty good after that.

Thanks man. I was reading your post, in another thread, about performance at altitude. Did you find ant resolution to your issue or is that simply the nature of the game up there? Glad to hear you truck performs inline with a stock TT.

Thanks for the reply Alex (and the e-mail yesterday. .)

Does the 700 kit use GT28's? Did I read somewhere that stock boost is quite high? What do the GT28's boost?

Seeing as we are starting with 4.5L, would GT30's be an option? Is it known what the bleeding edge is for HP on these truck before internals are required?

I spoke with Todd (Evoms) yesterday and we're going to see if we can make a map that will help compensate for altitude. The GT700 Cayenne is back in Phoenix to see what can be done. You can turn the wick up on the GT700 kit but the stock internals become a potential issue after 700 HP. Since I'm losing about 20% of my power up here we can crank things up a bit without risking the damage that we would at sea level. In other words, we'll try to tune the car for 750-800 HP at seal level knowing that it will lose 20% of its power up here. It would be nice to see numbers that are similar to those seen at sea level.

It's amazing watching cars run at Bandimere. There were two GT500's and the best run that I saw was a 13.6. There was an 2003 Corvette Z06 running high 14's. Stock Evo's do not break out of the 14's. My car, the GT2, at an 11.7 was one of the fastest street legal cars at the track.

My Evo8 is the only real world altitude versus sea level experience that I have. It ran a best of 11.55 at Bandimere (6000 feet) and, with the same set up, a 10.9 at Atco in New Jersey. 0.6 seconds is a huge difference!

EVO650 - I'm glad to hear you will be getting a custom MAP to compensate for your altitude. It would be real interesting to know what your GT700 Truck does the 1/4 mile before and after the recalibration.

The Cayenne trapped at 105mph in the 1/4 mile at Bandimere right before it left for Evoms.

Heya Mike no worries.... GT30s would be a nice option but hot damn are you trying to break the transmission or what . I'm not sure on those motors as yet (not spent enough time) but it's no cummins diesel....

Which Email from yesterday?

According to Evoms the pistons are excellent but the rods need upgrading after 700 HP. The tranny is also an unknown.
