Thanks for the pics! I'm curious about a couple of things:

1. Since you now have two audio units, how do you switch between the two?
2. Why not just replace the original radio with the new unit, and keep the other bin as storage?

1. If you do not have bose - new unit use as main, with speakers connected via original euro standart connector. Original unit connected to Speaker level aux in of new unit, or using hi to low level converter to RCA aux input. Chose AUX in and listen oem radio, CDs, XM etc, using steering wheel ctrl and display in instr cluster, but with phone connected w/sound mute and navi voice commands. Usually processor end eq settings will help improve sound.
You can choose aux and close screen untill watch media or use navi.

If you have bose (amp) - right cover in trunk, upper CD Changer - not good, you should completly rebuilt system, with new amps and new xovers for speakers, or new speakers. Another way use FM modulator, but sound will be terrible, and you can not hear original cd while use route directoins, alltimes only poor sound from new unit via fm.

2. you can remove oem unit easy, if you do not need / not have some usefull features.

Regards.

What do you have to rebuild if you have the bose sound system, do you have to buy a new amp?

bose amp have a few amps inside, for woofers, mids and tweeters. and Xover inside also. No possible connect speaker out of new head unt to all speakers.
