2011 Cayenne seats

What do you guys think about the std S seats, I think they are 8-way but lack lumbar adjustments? Am I the only one that wants lumbar adjustments? I think they feel fine but preferred the others but wondering what your impressions are. Does it matter to you or am I being picky?

Get the best seats you can that feel the best for your fit. I'm 6.2 and I will, without question get the fully positioned seats; especially for longer drives. That's one thing I can't stand is the comfort of my Gts seats on longer drives... Not comfortable, no articulated back, and too hard.

i tried various seats on the new cayenne. i thought the 18 way seat was too much for my need and all the different adjustment did not make the seat better for me. i was told that 14 and the standard seats are mostly similar except for lumbar in terms of seating. after trying both for a long time, i decided both options were equally comfortable for me. now.. i am only 5'8" on a good day and was never that picky with seats. i also hate lumbar support and has always set it to the lowest so i don't feel it.

I just came back from a pretty good test drive on both seats. IMO the standard seats are no match to the 18-way seats. The snug fit is just not there on the regular seats which remind me more of my current minivan's seats which are not adaptive at all and I sway from side to side during the cornering (well ya some exaggeration here ofcourse) but I can see why to some the 18-way seats may be uncomfortable to some who may not fit well into those seats. I personally also feel that the 18-way complements the current interior better than the standard seats which looks ordinary. But the regular seats are easier to get in and get out.

I enjoy my 18-way power seats, and I am 5"11 and weigh 230 pounds. I do not have any problems getting in or out, and I like having the side bolsters in case I really want to have fun and not slide everywhere in the seat. I do not know how different they feel from the 14-way( if they feel any diff. at all), but I would not have wanted to miss out on the 18-way(because I like a little spirited driving from time to time ). Now the soft ruffled leather, that is the only option I can see making the seats feel more comfier, and I may be wrong, but IMO that is what it looks like. But say if you did buy the ruffled leather, you would have to get 14-way seats and miss out on the side bolsters, also you would miss out on ventilated seats(if you want or need that, and I need the ventilation during summers in GA and SC). In all though, go with whatever you are comfortable with. Also the lumbar support does help me, I have a bad back, so it does help from time to time; and I don't think the cushion length adjustment comes with 8-way does it?( I could be wrong). Because that is really helpful too, it helps me sit farther back if I want to.

Edit: P.S. I did find a picture of the Panamera 8-way seats, and if they are similar to adjustment as the Cayenne's, then you will not get lumbar support with 8-way.

The 8-way power seats (standard on all Cayenne models except Turbo) adjust seat height, angle, backrest angle and fore/aft adjustment.

The 14-way power seats (optional on all models - no charge on Turbo) do everything the 8-way plus seat cushion depth adjustment, 4-way lumbar support and I think they offer the drive memory option as well.

The 18-way (standard on Turbo) do everything the others do plus higher side bolsters on the seat cushions and backrests, pronounced shaping in shoulder area -- and you def need those options with the Turbo!

If you drive a lot, I would go with the 14-way as I find them much more comfortable than the 8-way.

I recently took a test drive and decided to buy the six with 14-way seats. Now, I'm considering going for the S, but would probably drop the optional seat due to expense considerations. Unfortunately, I didn't "play" with the standard seat much to determine the comfort factor, especially on a long trip. The dealer is well over a hundred miles away, so a quick trip is not feasible. I am 6'3" tall. My main concern regarding the standard seats is thigh support. Can the standard seat be adjusted to provide sufficient thigh support for someone my height? Many thanks.

I'm 6'3" as well and went with the 14way seats. the middle section of the bottom cushion on 14 way seats slides out to give more leg support for longer legs. plus I wanted the extra lumbar support.

Thanks, Dan. The reasons you give are precisely why I would like to have the 14-way seats. Are there any other tall drivers out there who went with the standard seats and how have they been comfort-wise, especially on a long trip?

My family just got a '11 S w/ the 14 way seats and I can't help but complain about the shoulder area. I'm 6'0 185 with broad shoulders and after 30-45 minutes in the seat, my lats start getting very sore. It feels like the bolsters are pushing my shoulders forward and it gets pretty uncomfortable. Maybe it will improve as we put more miles on the car, but its not my car so I guess it doesnt matter

Thanks for the observation and comments. I have an Acura MDX. When I first got it, the seat cushion felt narrow, though it wasn't. In a short time, my weight flattened it out some, making it very comfortable..

A cautionary note 14 and 18 seat pricing. stand alone they are only 480 apart at 1335 for 14s and 1815 for 18s. But if you already have the 14s in one of the Premium packs, on an S, you get no, nada, credit towards the 18, paying full ticket.
