Test drove the turbo and Cayenne S back to back. Could have got the turbo for another $20K but my wife and I got what made sense to us. By this I meant some nice power packed with some performance upgrades which adds that much more to the vehicle's safety and agility. The main draw for a 2011 to us was the LCA, ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, PDCC, PTV technology and the interior. Burmester was a divine experience (the turbo launch vehicle that I drove had it and the CS had the Bose) and made the Bose look very pedestrian. My family and I love music. Wife loved the two-tone interior and kids wanted a Panorama roof (so I negotiated with them and took off the 4-zone climate control). Road noise not a big factor. We are not dark tint fans. Hence did not go with the noise/thermal glass option. Getting in and out was a tad challenging for my wife but then took everyone's advice and got rid of the running boards. 18-way seat was so right both from a functional and aesthetic aspect. Left the trim stock (not a big fan of wood and aluminium with the rest of the chrome would be overkill). In fact feel that the piano black hi-gloss with the chrome that is stock would complement the two-tone interior and I saved the $$$ for the aluminium package. The seat belts and instrument gauges in black would go well with the rest of the interior hence got rid of the cognac seat belts and dials in luxor beige saving some more $$$. My wife and I really like how we have spec'd it. The Cayenne S with PASM, air-suspension, PDCC, PTV will be a slight upgrade over our pristine low mileage Sienna ..(which is now up for sale)
. I will tell all the doubters one thing. The Cayennes are one awesome ride. When I get osteoporosis, low back issues etc in the next 10-15 yrs .... the C4S and the Carrera 3.2 will leave my garage BUT THE CAYENNE S WILL STAY. I really wanted to wait for atleast one year (preferably two) on a new redesigned model BUT MY WIFE/KIDS WANTED ONE NOW. It's all about the family so here you go. Hoping that there are no penalties in store for being the early adopter here ('09 997.2 and the 2011 Cayenne S). Actually feel better about the Cayenne as the DFI/V8/PTV etc is not new, only the 8-speed tiptronic is (previously 7 speed). But I should no better than to doubt the automaker who has ranked number one in reliability.
One a final note, still not sure about Umber vs Auburn but feel that Auburn would match the interior more so than the Umber. Thoughts/suggestions as always is very much appreciated.

Congrats! Excellent loadout especially with PASM and Burmester. Test drove a 2011 S over the weekend and I fell in absolute love with the interior and layout of all the gadgets..really stands out in a competitive crowd of luxury SUV's..
Sometimes you forget to thank the people who help you make the right choices when it comes to anything in life. With all the interaction I've had (and enjoyed) with several members here, I did forget to thank you all in the Cayenne section. My order is all locked now. Should be available in late Jan 2011.

My review of the order.
Performance: I am spoilt by the driving dynamics of the C4S, hence had to go with the PASM, PDCC, PTV. People can argue that one will never drive a Cayenne on the street hard enough to take advantage of these options. I know that I made the right choice for me considering my driving style and twisties on mountain passes.
Ext/Int color combo: I am probably one of the biggest fans of natural leather. The look, feel and the way it ages over time...priceless. This is very important for someone like me who takes pride in keeping cars for a long time and maintaining them in such a way so that it looks showroom perfect despite all the miles that I put on it. Due to very limited two-tone option (ya..just one), had to do the espr/cognac and felt black would be the best exterior color option for that two-tone interior. Metallic black will hide swirl marks better than solid black, I would'nt want to be spending more time polishing paint than driving the car hence the JBM color. As far as the interior trim goes, I'm not a big fan of wood circles/rings (always associated it with luxury cars like Lexus/MB) and the aluminium with the chrome trim just was'nt cutting it. Felt that the stock black high gloss trim (some people think it looks cheap and plasticky...I did'nt think so) will complement the two tone and will blend well with black dials and black seatbelts.
Wheels: Going with a 18 inch winter wheel/tire package (bought it from Jace who was very gracious in his pricing) hence took the 20 inch route for combination of performance and comfort. Heard that tire options for 19 inch wheels are far and few and that is another reason for my 20 inch wheel. RS is the best looking 20 inch wheel, love the titanium like look rather than the usual silver. The 21 inch turbo wheel is the best looking IMO but it comes at a price (both initial price as it is forged) and subsequent cost of tire replacement.
Other options: The frills only option here was the compass (just had to get it for the looks) and the WheelHbCvr w/ColorPorscheCrest. Wanted it fully loaded from a safety standpoint hence the LCA, back-up camera, parking sensors, fire extinguisher, adaptive cruise control. Four distinct seaons where I live summers very hot..winters very cold...hence the heated steering wheel, heated windscreen and ventilated seats, love sunshine hence the Pana roof, music is a big deal for my family/me and Burm which is nothing short of art for the ears. To complement the Burm went with XM satellite radio (since I travel quite a bit) and the noise insulated glass. Quite a bit of rough roads hence road noise is an issue for me. Voice control is for my wife to show off when he relatives visit her
so it is worth the extra $. I do feel that I wasted $$ on the wheel arch extension/side door protection mold but I made up for it by not going with any interior trim option.
Again thanks to everyone here. As much as all the research I did (reading borchures, over the counter car magazines, Christophorus magazines, youtube videos/searched Porsche dealer websites in Germany/England for pictures of 2011 Cayennes) I could not have done my order without your help.

w00tPorsche,
How old are your kids and how did they find the back seats? Your kids are used to the Sienna second row, so how was their leg room?
Did you try the back seats (or your wife)? How was the room once your slide and tilt far back?
TIA
Brez
edit: by the way, congrats, nice friggin' built!

My girls are 9 and 11. As a 6 footer even I had enough leg room sitting in the back with the drivers seat
moved quite a bit back. The legroom is a non issue. Thanks for the positive comments. Slwong, I think our Cayennes will be co-passengers :-)

awesome build woot... very similar to what I have in mind. Can't wait to see the pictures.. What's premium package plus by the way? And did you consider the front and rear skids plates? All the ad pics have them
Compass display.. interesting. Haven't seen one with it yet. Do I need it now?
And can I also ask why you chose to delete the model designation?

*****-Jo, Premium package plus is a bundle that has the following: Bi-Xenon Headlights with PDLS, Auto Dimming Interior/Exterior mirror, PCM with Navigation Module, Lane Change Assist, ReverCamera-ParkAssisFrontRear, ElecRollupSunblindRearSideWind, 12-Volt Outlet in Rear Center, Dimmable Interior LED Lighting, Heated Seats Front and Rear Seat Ventilation Front. It is a good way to go even if you need just 70 % of the above options as you save quite a bit of $$.
The compass display is a la sports chrono like display that sits right on top of the center speaker on the dash. It just sets it off well in my opinion compared to the look of the just the speakers. See this link on Porsche Australia (all three interior pics have the compass display). I hope you have seen pics without the compass display for comparison. If not let me know, I can send you the link.

My wife and I felt that with both the PORSCHE and Cayenne S badging the rear looked pretty crowded and busy. Now without the model designation, the PORSCHE lettering would be centered very well, in my opinion.
Skid plates show well in all the pictures as they are shot in that low angle. In real life it will not be that much of a visual highlight. I still like it as it gives a nice off-road/sporty character and would set off a good contrast to my JBM exterior color. It is a $1500.00 option. Perhaps a better bang for the buck than my option of the wheel arch extensions in black with Side Door Protection Moldings which is $1000.00.

Sorry, I meant to say that I haven't seen the compass display in person.. I have seen plenty of pictures of it. Thanks anyway Woot. Just don't know if it's worth the money. Deletion of the model name seems like a good idea though.. I might do it
My build will be similar.. except with 21" turbo wheels, sports exhaust, skid plates and I am also planning to paint the break callipers red ...

W00t,
I see that you ordered Premium plus which includes 14 Way Seat/memory. Did you still pay the full price for the 18 Way seat/mem option, as you list, or did you pay the difference between the price of the 14 way and 18 way seats?
Thanks

Thanks
Brez, the 14-way seats are built into the prem pack plus (PPP) but when I add the 18-way seats to my build that has the PPP instead of just adding the $480.00 difference, it adds $1815 to the bottom line price !!! Anyone know why. Also since I am going with the non-smokers package I'm wondering if I will be with one less 12 volt socket
. The build sheet says that there is an additional 12 V socket in the rear center so I am hoping I should be okay.
Willy_Jo, I think you will love the skid plates. Porsche has designated certain colors for it's brakes. Painting them red or yellow would give someone an impression that it is turbo or ceramic brakes. But if it sails your boat, why not go for it. The sports exhaust may not be worthwhile considering the weight it would add an the fact that your cabin would be so quiet..it may be hard to hear the exhaust. You say your build will be quite similar to mine. In my opinion if you have the noise insul glas and Burmester, there is more reason not to go with the sport exhaust. See a vehicle without the compass display and decide if you the looks bother you. If not then save the $$.

Not sure about the 12V, but I think that the addition of the sport exhaust to a insul/burm build would be semi-counter productive. Then again, it was stated in the write up for burmester, that they tuned it around real driving senarios, whereas other audio manufactures tune the vehicle to shine while sitting parked. I will open up the burmester thread and comment further on that, but I'm certain that most folks will not appreciate the burmester for what it is while sitting parked.
Just got this yesterday on my email from my Porsche salesman:
"Good news, your beautiful Cayenne is completed, the VIN is WP.........2. I will let you know as soon as it is on vessel. Kindest Regards"
Me/wifey/kids celebrated it with a nice famliy outing.

For some reason I thought that you were going to say something different...I'm excited!
My Cayenne was place on a vessel 22Nov and will be here any day now. I was told 15Dec; therefore, anticipation is at an all time high to say the least.
