2011 E63 Wagon or 2011 Cayenne Turbo
"This is epic, I salute you. Waste an unsuspecting Corvette for me one day."[/quote]
Hahaha...thanks. Some days, I think it looks good. Some days, not so good. But the R63 as a minivan - can't be beat lol. I've been told there are less than 40 in USA, and 5 in Canada. They won't ever make a "Minivan" with such an engine ever again. The fuel economy is horrendous but I love it when I am next to a Prius...total polar opposites!
...and I've wasted many a "sports car" in my "minivan". 6.2 litres, power to the ground on all 4 wheels....great off the line with no wheel spin
The look on their faces was priceless
Stop light "races" can be more fun in the R63 than my "tuned" 997TT

Don't undestimate the AMG 6.2 V8
Some people may laugh when you mention the Mercedes R class failure....BUT.....I have an R63...0-60 in 4.6, AWD, 6 passenger. It's great since I've got toddlers...
I've run against a stock 2008 Cayenne Turbo, and my AMG Minivan beats it at any speed, 0-60, 60-100 etc. Handling wise, since my R63 is lowered, the CTT has nothing on it. There is no replacement for displacement.
2011 Cayenne Turbos on the other hand...I am not qualified to say...but point is....
You can't go wrong with either, especially an E63 Wagon.

Here are some stats: 0-100km/h acceleration
R63 AMG - 5.0 secs
2008 Cayenne Turbo - 5.1 secs
2008 Cayenne Turbo S - 4.7 secs
2011 Cayenne Turbo - 4.7 secs

I do really really like the new 2011 Cayenne Turbo. Less weight more power, better handling. Very very nice improvements.
When I have no need for a 6 passenger, I will trade in my 63 for the new CTT......sweet
But for now, my minivan holds it own against the very capable Cayenne Turbos.

A real driver can drive anything fast
Agreed!
1. Me in a Cayenne Turbo S.....
2. Walter Rohrl in a Cayenne V6....
Mr Rohrl would be faster than me on ANY road or track....guaranteed.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but now that the E63 wagon has been available here in the US for a year, I was wondering if anyone has owned both a 958 CTT and the non-PP W212 E63 and/or E63 wagon?
If so, what is your take on ride quality for long distance driving on moderate to poor roads? I have test driven both (E63 wagon on special order 18" wheels and CTT w/PDCC on 20" wheels) and my impression is the E63 ride quality is significantly better. However, it is very difficult to definitively tell from a short test drive compared to someone who has owned both and driven extensively over the same roads...

I own a 2011 CTT and have borrowed my friends 2011 E63 for a weekend. The newer E63 from 2011+ can handle much better then previous years AMG's, but compared to a CTT with PDCC, that would be a hard call. Very impressive for each. The CTT does have much better gadgets, infotainment, audio system and cargo room. The AMG has better exhaust note.
I would take CTT obviously.

Thanks for the feedback. Purely on a ride quality (ie comfort factor - presumably both set to softest suspension settings) how would your family rate the two when driven on not so great roads?
I am looking for a better jekyll and hyde DD car. The family has had it with the ride quality of my jeep SRT8 (not that I blame them). They would love me to get a base E350, for example, for ride quality, but that sort of car, for me, is just too boring to drive. Panamera might be a good compromise, but it doesn't have enough room. So narrowed down to E63 wagon vs CTT. All things being equal, I would rather be up high in the CTT for visibility, but it's still fighting the physics of high center of gravity vs ride quality.
