Gas Mileage 2011 "S"...Is this possible?

I drove my car on the highway yesterday for about 200+ miles, set the computer when I left, and it told me that I got 26.7 mpg for pure highway, around 65mph driving? I couldn't belive it, so, I re-filled the tank, and sure enough, it was accurate! I am astounded. It's not always that good, and dips down substantially in the City, but WOW. Anyone else get that sort of rating? That 8 speed makes a difference, I couldn't break 20 mpg in my '08 "S".

The over drive gear can really improve MPG. American cars are known for that. Older GM cars and even Vettes rev at 2k rpm going 75mph.

Cars have improved much in safety and quality but not in efficiency in the last 20 years. It's a shame.

It dips to about 16 (or maybe less), since I live in NYC, its a LOT of stop and start driving, and a lot of idling, so, I never really checked. Also, I don't drive that much, so, a tank lasts a long time for me. I also turn that stop/start feature off since it is alarming and jarring when it turns on. I bet that would help though. I'll use it more this summer going to the beach, I will have a better guage of its mileage.
