linking memory setting to key

I couldn't quite get this to work - I have my settings saved to Memory 1 and my wife's to Memory 2. We each carry a key. How do I link the memory to the key?

The manual has a short paragraph on how to active/deactivate key memory on page 38 but it doesn't detail how to specify which key is linked. If I hit "set" and the memory# button, is it the key that unlocks the car that the settings are automatically saved to? This is what I tried but the settings seem to reset once in a while.

Once the memory is set, do I need to hit "off" to lock-in the memory settings to the key?

Thanks.

As far as I understand it, each key has 2 memory locations which you select with the 1/2 buttons. There is usually no need to manually set them since all settings get stored automatically on the key when you leave the car.

Using the second key to unlock the car downloads the 1/2 settings for this key to the car.

So, if you and your wife consistently use your respective keys leave the settings selector on "1" and the car should retrieve your last stored settings automatically.

Hope this helps.
