Headlights low beam H7 HID conversion

For Cayennes w/o OEM Xenon HID low beam.
This is the adaptor need to properly install aftermarket H7 HID bulbs.

http://hidconcept.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=87

I had an extra H7 hid kit to mess around with. I converted my high beam to HID using the adaptor.

I had mine from http://www.hidxenonheadlights.com/Porsche-HID-Kits/ and I purchased separately the bulbs. I got OSRAM CBI 5000K HID lights. They are some of the brightest bulbs on the market and as well are 5000K with no loss of light output over 4300K bulbs. The second bulbs are Philips 81522+. They are 4300K but they are a bit brighter than the stock bulbs.

They are working fine for you? No check dipped beam errors when on auto mode?

even with the adaptor turbostang posted i was never able to get the bulbs to seat correctly in the housings, i wish there was a kit that had the correct adaptors built in so that you didnt have to rig the bulbs to fit

That's unfortunate that these adapter don't fit 100% flush.
Beyond the adapters, I'm finding a hard to find a kit that will actually work without throwing errors. I read some of your posts and it seems you have the same problem as me.

Have you given up completely or did you try another kit?

not for the set i had, the bulb housing was too wide and spread the adapter out which made it too wide to fit in the headlight housing brackets, which kit did you have that it worked on ?

I installed it a while ago and didnt use any adapter bracket, since it did not come with one. I used a pretty embarrassing (and ghetto) method of electrical tape to secure the bulb in the housing. It has worked for 6 months no problem. I just opened it up to take a look because I was worried about the heat generated from the ballast (i put the ballast inside the headlight housing) but the tape looks fine and does not look to be melted.

Real issue is finding a correct ballast that will work without any problems. The ddmtuning HID kit I have does not work all the time. checked beam errors when headlights are on auto mode.

DDM tuning H7 kit.
I cant test it out on my low beam since I already have OEM HID.
It did fit my High beam side no problem.

i havent tried another kit yet because when i look at pics on the site they look the same as the DDM kit i tried. There has to be a kit or an adapter out there that will make this work, guess we just have to keep looking and be the guinea pigs.

Can you grind down the bulb housing a bit with a dremel?

i could try that, it still wont get rid of the dip beamed error or the fact that sometimes one of the lights wouldnt come on at all.

I heard that we should be looking for CANBUS HID Ballast that are AC power, NOT DC...who wants to be the guinea pig?

+1. The fact it won't come on is due to the dipped beam error.
