Cayenne S or V6?
Cayenne S or V6?
Need some feedback. I bought my son a 2012 v6 cayenne. Black with tan. Very basic, automatic and sunroof are the only options. I put on the 21" factory turbo wheels, painted the charcoal parts of wheels black, getting calipers powder coated neon pearl green ( his choice), tinted the windows. Car looks awesome. I drove it around in and out of the rain Saturday day and night. I fell in love with it. I decided to order one for me. I was going to order another V6 but then thought that maybe I go with an S. The difference is about $10k. Do I really need the 8 cylinder? I will do the same things cosmetically to either one. Looking forward to your feedback.
Very interesting reading this thread. I have a V6 on order for my son also! Thought I was being too generous but this makes me feel a little bit better.
As for your car idea, Ide go with the Turbo. Might as well right? Ive never driven the new model cayennes so I couldnt tell you from experience, but you definatley have to 1 up your son with the S. If youre just going for looks, stick with the V6. If you want something more resembling the power in your 997, go with the S. Otherwise, I dont think its worth the money.
Any pictures of your sons car?

In the sport mode, the v6 has plenty of power. The v6 and S look the same. The turbo cayenne is easily twice the price as the S. There is a white turbo available at my dealer today. I am keeping my 997 turbo so for now so another turbo porsche is just too much for me. I will post some picks tomorrow with the new calipers on my son's car.

Thanks for the pics! Im in a 750Li at the moment and may be looking to get into one of the new 911's soon. I could have sworn Ive seen your 997 before and really admired it. Are you ever in or around fort lauderdale?
Well, I went to my dealer today. I am going to order the S. I will get an additional $2500 discount if I buy the S. So for a net difference of $7500, I get a 8 cylinder, a moonroof, and 100 more ponys.
I am on my iPad so I am not sure how to add photos of my sons v6, but the calipers look awesome. I will try and put up photos later.
Yes I am in the Ft lauderdale area, close to Boca. Pm me, maybe we can meet up. When is your sons cayenne due in?

Very nice choice! Im guessing you went to champion as there arent many porsche dealers around. The sales guy Mike has been very good to me so far and he says the cayenne should be finished production on Monday and another 30 days for delivery. So around thanksgiving time we should be taking delivery.
Yes, I live in fort lauderdale and am always in boca visiting friends in the royal palm country club, very nice place! Maybe one day after delivery we will meet up, as im know our cayenne will probably be modded just like your sons.

Sounds like you've made up your mind but my suggestion was going to be to simply drive the S and decide for yourself.
IMO, and no offense intended, the V6 Cayenne is no longer underpowered (like the last gen was) but the V8 in the Cayenne S transforms the vehicle. The turbo is a whole different can of worms but also a very substantial price increase.

I did decide on the S. I do agree that the v6 is definitely no slouch. I fell in love with the one I bought for my son (pictured above) but I do think that I will regret not getting at least the 8 cylinder S. Plus I kinda have to one up the kid...lol
