Bose vs. regular system

Wanted some feedback from you guys on spending the extra 1.5k on the Bose system vs. the regular system installed at the factory. Is the system worth it?

It depends onyour taste. If you listen to mostly talk radio or satellite radio the stock system is probably fine. If you prefer a better sound then the Bose is worth it. If you are a real audiophile then go burmeister. I have heard the stock radio and did not like it at all. It sounded very thin and underpowered. But if it was between that feature and something else for my last $1500, I might go with upgraded wheels or panoramic roof or whatever. It is certainly passable.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm nearing my budget for my "S" and am trying to figure out if it is worth it getting the Bose Surround. I do listen to some music, but a lot of talk radio.

I have had both (mostly a satellite listener myself) and will be sticking with the stock on my next one. Bose adds another dimension and bass but not worth the extra. I agree with tex94, pano, sport exhaust, some painted parts etc. is where I am spending my money

Bose over the base, hands down.
Bose is good.

Just go and compare the burmester to Bose bc you'll then be disappointed with the Bose.

Had the bose in my gts and loved it.

Most people don't realize this, once you upgrade to PCM Navigation you already have upgraded sound system, from 10 speakers 100 watts to 11 speakers 235 watts, Bose will get you 14 speakers 585 watts, 200-watt subwoofer and surround sound. These are 2 separate options, so you can upgrade from base system to Bose without getting PCM/navi, but if you need a USB INPUT for your iPod, you must get the PCM/navi, by only upgrading to Bose will not get you an USB INPUT, you only get an analog AUX INPUT. Very tricky, Porsche just wants your money.

Where on the Porsche web site does it say this? I looked around. If that is the case, then I probably won't upgrade it since I'm not a big audio person. 235 watts is good enough for AM radio and a few CDs.

i am not much of an audio person neither but they are miles apart. upgrade is worth it and it didnt affect me much when it came down to affordability.

If resale matters an upgrade of something should be in the cards. I would never purchase a high end car with a poor interior stereo even if I knew I could just upgrade later. Says something to me about the entire build.

Get as much of an upgrade you want to pay for. If you use it ok I'd you don't ok.
Either way, better resale an better for those times you want something more than a boom box raspy sounding stereo.

I agree for resale value I would get at least one of the upgrades. If I were looking at a highend used car I would not even consider one with a poor stereo UNLESS it was much cheaper. While you won't get paid later for upgrading now, you won't get punished either.

Frank69m, you have to select option then select audio and communications, click the 'i' at the end of PCM NAVI module, it tells you in detail what you get with this option. Hope this helps. To me this option is more important than the BOSE, because I need the USB for my iPod, with just the BOSE only, you can listen to CD (but who listens to CD these days) but to connect an iPod you need to connect the iPod earphone output to the car analog AUX input, not exactly Hi-Fi, if you can afford it, get both options.

I forgot to mention, when you use the analog AUX input, you can only control your iPod from the iPod, with USB you get full iPod control on the PCM and on the steering wheel, all the information, titles, playlists, etc., are also displayed on the PCM.

Just wondering if anyone has actually found a Cayenne with the standard speakers? I haven't. Just wondering how it sounds like? Is it really that bad?

I have driven one with standard sound (well, at least the slightly upgraded 235w sound right below the BOSE option). My dealer has a loaner 2011 Cv6 with this option. I had been debating myself whether or not the Bose was worth it but after I heard the stereo in the loaner I knew I had to have the Bose (and burmeister wasn't an option for me).
