My 2012 turbo has an 'automatic engine off' button for when you come to a stop. everything continues to function via battery until you release the brake and the engine starts again immediately.
how many of you use this feature? do you like it?

I don't really like the delay in starting, specially when you have to make a right turn in front of an speeding car. It could be dangerous at times.
In addition, I hope this feature doesn't cause any increased wear and tear on my engine or starter motor.
BMW started implementing this feature on their cars this year, but theirs is on every time the car is started. My buddy is so upset he started a website about it: http://www.bmwautostartstop.com/ He even added a section on Porsche after learning we can permanently disable ours.

As far as wear and tear, supposedly, the starter has been designed to handle the increased start/stop of the engine. Also, the times when it is most harmful for an engine is during a cold start. Once the engine is warmed up, starting the engine has a lot less wear or so I've read.
I have never noticed a delay in starting with this function engaged
Even during spirited driving in and out of traffic around Miami(where they drive like nuts and sometimes require you to react lightning fast)
I never noticed a delay either during very spirited driving in Europe
Anyway, with the AC,seat ventilation and music on..it does not engage a lot of the time
So I am surprised at how people feel it interferes with their driving
I barely think about it
Just my 2c

Never use it. I've tried it a few times and it works better than I expected but sitting in stop and go traffic (which I do way too often) it does get annoying.

Sorry, I thought I was driving a Porsche.
Use it occasionally in the city, not in racy traffic.
It's a nice feature in my opinion but very seldomly use it.
I noticed when I used it before the computer update for the oil consumption, I would go through oil faster, and I needed a quart more often and I relate it to this.
In time it will surely out wear on the starter and the battery.
Being that the batter is a 18 v I think? I can't imagine that to be cheap.

Here's the lyrics, just in case:

Oh, Lord, Kumbaya.

How did you know? I don't need the lyrics, I have them memorized.
I use it. The people who have showed me the car, both at Porsche factory and dealer reps seemed to think of it as being worthwhile to leave it at default. No problems so far but only have had car for a few weeks.
