The reason for the sport mode jump (1V usually) is - the EPA mileage is measured in non-sport mode.. so they limit the load on the alternator to improve fuel mileage. Once the battery is fully charged - the sport and non-sport mode voltages pretty much are the same.

I have a 2014 V6 and it displays 14.3 volts. I have two radar detectors that can display the voltage and they both display .3 volts more than what the screen shows.
