Burmester disappointment

well within reason.
For a good deep bass track Cowboy Junkies is also a nice tests source. Certainly don't rely on any mp3's for the most part unless they are the higher bitrate. More importantly though is how the track is recorded/produced to begin with.
I have found some demo tapes for McIntosh, Marantz etc, and if you can find a series of discs "the most beautiful voice..." they are excellent.
I just popped in a Warren Haynes disc that made my pathetic bose system sound not too shabby at lower volumes. At even slightly higher volumes it starts to distort.

FWIW - I had Burm in my '11 CTT and Bose in my "new" '12 CTT I picked up yesterday. I expected the bass to be worse with the Bose but it is about the same and certainly no complaints. The high-end / mids on the Bose are a lot worse than the Burm.
If I was ordering a new car and not buying off the lot I would definitely pay for the Burm.
My two cents!
