I ran over a curb
I ran over a curb
I feel like an idiot, but I ran over a curb today pulling into a parking lot. I hit the curb with my front passenger wheel. I have the 19" rims, so thankfully the tire took the hit and the rim was not rashed. I did have a black mark on the rim from the compressed tire, but it rubbed off easily. The truck drives fine. I was going about 8 mph when I hit the curb. Do you think I have anything to worry about? Should I get the alignment checked? I would hope a SUV could take this type of impact, but I am worried since the truck is new. Thanks for your thoughts.
Any misalignment will actually manifest itself in either your vehicle not tracking straight or abnormal wear on tires. Personally I don't think you have anything to worry about.
To put it to perspective.. I've seen people hit curbs, blow their tires bend their rim and their alignment is still okay. It all depends on the angle, speed and construction of the car but yea I think your fine.

If you’d bent anything serious then I think you’d have a dashboard lit up with warning messages. If it’s driving OK then I would just make a point of having the tracking checked the next time you’re at the dealer. Bet it’s fine though.
I hit a kerb (funny - ours have a k.) a few years ago in the ice, fully loaded with 5 people inside and bent two wheels up pretty badly - there was one bent track-rod and a couple of new wheel bearings needed but that was it. Just a few hundred quid and two new wheels and I was back on the road. Cayennes are pretty tough.
