Installing Carbon Fiber 'bits'

Can anyone comment on how difficult it is to install a Carbon Fiber interior. The trim strips look pretty easy with the proper plastic tools that Suncoast sells. How about the grab rails and Center Console?

Thanks, JohnnyB

Hey Johnny,

I did the whole install myself in about 2 hours.

Everything is really easy except the center console trim. You have to remove the center vents, shift **** and the PCM unit for the center console trim to come out..

If you look inside the center vents, you will see tabs holding it in. Two tabs inside of each vent. You need a nice 9 gauge wire inserted in each tab and the vent slides right out. I'm sure you can use a flathead skinny and long enough to make it work too.

Best of luck.

Fkim,
Can you offer more detail about the vents and shifter? I need to pull mine but can't figure it out to save my life and my Porsche dealer won't share the information...

The shifter is really easy- You see the chrome ring around the base of the shifter, that turns counterclockwise to unlock. Wrap that chrome ring with a small towel and use an adjustable wrench to turn it one click counterclockwise. It should pull out without any effort after that.

The vent- Take a flashlight and look inside the center vent. You will see 2 tabs on on the upper and lower part of the vent on the same side. The tabs are usually on the side closest to the PCM. Those tabs need to pressed down for the vent to pull out. I used 2 small wires and slide it right through each tab and just pulled out the vent.

Thanks for the info. I couldn't figure the shifter out at all, but I did see the tabs and figured them and the vents were part of the problem (just didn't know what to do with them).

The wife won't be thrilled that I have this info as I some how managed to break all the clips on the clock trim panel when I pulled it off

Just remove the 2 side vents first then pry the trims out and replace them.

There are 4 vents on the dash, 2 of them close to side doors and 2 of them close to PCM.
Only the 2 that are close to the side doors have to be removed.

Not sure how to DIY...but I had a Porsche dealership to replace all door grab handles plus the two console ones. They charged 4.5 hours labor.

I saw a thread here posted by a guy from Australia, I believe. It was a right hand drive car. There were photos showing a technician installing the trims.
I just learnt installation from the photos.
Just search that thread and study it first, and ask me for any question. I could remember it I would tell you how.
