Footwell lighting strange behavior
Footwell lighting strange behavior
I find it quite odd that all 4 foot well lights remain on after all the doors are closed on our Cayenne S. Is this normal? We have comfort light pkg but no extended LED pkg.
If the foot well lights do stay on, at least they should be at a reduced intensity, similar to our previous MB S class. Perhaps I should look into changing the bulbs to LED.
I do not want to switch them off, because then they will not come on when a door is opened. I will try to dim them and hope the reduced brightness stays and I don't need to adjust them every time. The footwell lights do stay on day and night regardless if the headlights are on. And you said this is normal!
I have them very dim for effect and that level stays automatically every time I start the car. It is really a great feature but I don't know if it there only when you get the extended led package which is what I have.

I understand. I had to play with it several times to get the horseshoe dim enough to not be annoying and the foot well lights then are forced to be fairly dim also. I am used to the level now and it seems to do the trick!
I just tried, so even on non LED version the foot well lights are dimmable, but only together with the LED horse shoe lights, I wish I could adjust the foot well lights independently. But I still prefer it this way rather than on our 2011 Panamera which the foot well lights turn off completely when all the doors are closed. Now I am looking to change the foot well lights into LED, I know Suncoast Porsche sells the retro fit Extended LED pkg, but I don't need to change all the other lights to LED as those lights do not stay on for long, door edge locator lights, trunk lights, sun visor lights, glove box light, etc. I hope I can just purchase the 4 foot well LED bulbs.
I have the comfort light pkg without extended LED. I changed the footwel, trunk, rear lift, glove box, and door lights to LED. Did not attempt the visor and side mirror lights.
A very simple DIY. Just buy a bunch of type 194 from eBay (cost less than $1 each), and a 39-41 mm for the trunk. I also got a couple of error free 194 for the license plate.
Total cost for all the bulbs cost less than $30 shipped to the door.

What are the exact sizes or the led light you got? Footwel, trunk, rear lift, glove box and door lights?
