I ordered a pretty well loaded CD in January and picked it up a month ago. The price came in at slightly more than $79K. The dealer would not cut the price....but did include the sales tax. So ultimately, I guess I got about 5% off the price.

2014 gts

I ordered a stripped GTS in September and it arrived in late January. All I got was 21" black wheels, Metalic paint, No badge, black trim, Sat. radio and a fire extinguisher.
It stickered at $87k and I paid $79k. I went to 4 dealerships and I think it was a good deal. The GTS is amazing inside and out. I sold a 2006 Cayeene Turbo S and I think the GTS is faster.

that's a very good price! With the Platinum, options, 21" wheels/tires, TTL and other fees I paid exactly 70 to drive out the door.

Seems like buying one in inventory off the lot gives you the most negotiation possible over custom ordering. This comes right from my dealer. They want to move cars in inventory faster than giving up an allocation spot. Some dealers want to sell cars and deal! Some think they're selling the last cars on earth and think they're selling some hard to find rare artifacts. They seem insulted that you'd want to deal on a Porsche. They're all individual franchised businesses so there is quite the variety out there! You can literally buy from any dealer in the USA, so shop around.

Agree

I cannot argue with the fact that negotiating one off the lot gives you more leverage. But the fact is you will not find one without $20K - $30K of options on it. With an i-phone 5S who needs $3,500 navigation? If you want one with a low sticker you will have to order it.

True. They do make a lot of $$$ on those options, and most buyers want a lot of options within reason. The options are also good/bad for resale as I found out with my previous 2010 Cayenne which wasn't heavily optioned.

The GTS sweet spot for dealers seems to be around $100K. They've told me building them up to $115-120K doesn't move them and more of a depreciation hit.

In your case ordering one was the right choice.

yes we were lucky that the vehicle that we wanted came off the boat in 1 week. Also talking to other dealers, they do not come off ant for a base v6 or platinum. We happened to have a family friend that is a repeat customer for they dealership we bought from, even at that we only got 1k off.

I think the base and platinum a very reasonably priced. A loaded Tahoe, FX50, QX80 are all about the same price and really what sounds better: I have a Porsche or I have an Infinity or Tahoe

Same here. Who can beat the iPhone? But, I lost a lot of buyers on my 2010 GTS because it did not have PCM and Navi.

Don't you know people want options they'll never use?? Kinda like my heated steering wheel! Ha ha

Adaptive cruise control. An option you never find in a lot, but an option that I use a lot, long distance driving or not.

Heated steering wheel? I thought it was insane but it was included in the package. You know what? It is something I use a lot. Old age creeping.

Agree, don't need navigation, as well as other silly options. If getting no where on a platinum version, get the non platinum one and negotiate down from there. Are there features on a platinum that are not available on non platinum?

True, but those buying the infinity, Tahoe, escalade etc do it for the third row.
