Are you doing this in manual mode or in automatic? ie. normal downshift? I'm a little gun-shy now playing in manual with the new engine and don't think I'd even come close to hitting 4500 if in auto. If in manual mode, do you shift like it were a manual transmission with same pause in throttle between shifts?

On way home, south of Jacksonville, coolant temperature warning. Pulled to side of road I95 immediately. Lifted hood, coolant red color all over engine and hood. Waiting for flatbed. Approx 1820 miles since engine replaced. Total 8317 miles on car.

Exactly right. Appears hose was slid onto the fitting but the clamp wasn't slid up over the end and fastened. Came off on I95 in heat of day.

note: As you can see I used tow fitting in trunk. Everyone note there is only one tow fitting in the tool kit. The molded foam has room for two. Tow driver said he wouldn't pull it up without two. Later his boss and the Porsche dealer confirmed it only came with one and it was OK. Regardless I picked up one ($33) at Brumos Porsche where it was towed and fixed and washed down. I suggest to make Murphy's law work for you and get the second tow ring.

Ok..Well lets hope all othe fittings were secured properly during the swap.
At least the temp warning was working properly, so you pulled off. Now u can again begin to enjoy your car, after flats and breakdowns.
I take that stretch of I 95 on my way down to pick up I 4 in Daytona.
Glad to know theres a little rest stop seat that has been graced. Hope u marked the spot.
Put the day of stress behind you. opps punning again.

Wanted to bring this thread to a closure. I drove my car down to Champion and had a talk with the service manager, the foreman and the mechanic who forgot to clamp the coolant hose. The dealer agreed to perform the first service at no cost and paid for my hotel room. The mechanic had the task, besides doing the service, to clean all the coolant traces off the car from underneath, basically handwiping everything down. I guess that will help him remember to clamp the hose in the future! I picked up my car the next day and it looks and feels brand new. I hope I won't be needing to see another Porsche dealer or tow truck for another 10k miles or another year.
