Well that didn't work out well.
I got in there and there is too much stuff to remove to get to the ECU. I am not confident enough that I would get it all back together so this project will have to be on hold.

 

Aren't GIAC shops able to flash the tune via the OBD port without removing the ECU from the car?

 

Not the 958 Cayenne. The ECU needs to be removed for the flash to occur.

 

Gotcha, I wasn't sure if it was possible via OBD.

 

Just wondering why would you risk it and send the ECU when you can buy the chip to do it by yourself with no risk ?

Funny I just found that web site yesterday while looking for a local place here to do it.
I read a lot of older posts on here with people who were happy with the results

You should read about that "piggyback system" before you make your decision.

 

Yes I have been reading about the piggy back system but I think that they haven't developed the software for the 2013. I am getting the impression that it is different than the 2011 and 2012 software tunes.
I was told that their is a new Siemen's ecu FDI7 and the previous was FDI6.
But I know nothing about this stuff so don't take what I say as correct. I am waiting and watching.
